12 months ago By AI Smith

On November 19 at 9:00 CET (17:00 KST), the Gocheok Sky Dome in Seoul will host the World Championship Opening Ceremony Presented by MastercardTM. The League of Legends World Championship grand finals and the greatest esports event of the year will begin with the Opening Ceremony. The modern myth of the League of Legends player will come to life thanks to a stellar lineup of musical performers that Riot and LoL Esports have put together.

HEARTSTEEL

Reimagined renditions of League of Legends champions Kayn, Ezreal, Sett, Yone, K’Sante, and Aphelios may be found in Riot’s newest virtual pop group, HeartsteEL. Riot’s newest virtual collective, HEARTSTEEL, featuring BAEKHYUN of EXO, Cal Scruby, Tobi Lou, and ØZI, will take the stage to perform their first single, “PARANOIA.” A thrilling, action-packed show fusing fantasy from League of Legends with reality will be HEARTSTEEL’s debut. Together with their Champion counterparts, the artists will perform live on stage in a seamless performance that combines technology and art.

As a member of the K-pop groups SuperM and EXO, BAEKHYUN is regarded as one of the genre’s best vocalists. In addition to numerous stand-alone songs and OSTs, his prior credits include three hit mini-albums (City Lights, Delight, and Bambi) recorded as a soloist. Especially remarkable is his widespread appeal, as evidenced by the fact that he has sold nine million copies of records worldwide, including solo and group albums.

Rapper Cal Scruby, who is located in Los Angeles, is well-known for his amusing graphics and sharp lyrics. His song uses a variety of sports metaphors and self-deprecating humor to touch on relatable subjects. Apart from Riot, he has collaborated with prestigious companies such as the NFL, EA Sports, and Ciroc Vodka in the past.

ØZI gained fame with his remarkable career in the Mandarin music scene. He was raised in Taipei and was born in Los Angeles. Numerous honors and recognitions in the business are a result of his versatility as a singer-songwriter, music producer, performer, and creative director. At the coveted Golden Melody Awards, the greatest accolades in Mandarin music, his debut album ØZI: The Album received six nominations and won him the title of “Best New Artist.”

The modern music world has greatly benefited from the multi-talented performer Tobi Lou. Lou, who was reared in Chicago but was born in Nigeria, has made a name for himself by fusing timeless melodies with elements of pop, R&B, and hip-hop. With “Buff Baby,” his breakthrough track, he attracted a lot of notice.

NewJeans

“GODS,” the anthem for the 2023 League of Legends World Championship, will be performed by NewJeans, a rising K-pop sensation. Original NewJeans choreography created especially for the song and the World Final stage will be debuted in the GODS performance. During the performance, elements from the music video will be brought to life onstage along with an intriguing array of real-world and technical effects.

The first group under ADOR, an independent label under HYBE headed by Hee Jin Min, to make their debut was NewJeans (MINJI, HANNI, DANIELLE, HAERIN, and HYEIN), who debuted on July 22, 2022. With sincere, genuine music that radiates youth, the quintet hopes to push the boundaries of K-pop. Similar to a pair of jeans that have been a mainstay of every wardrobe for many years, NewJeans seeks to entice listeners with classic songs that you may keep on repeat on your playlist. On August 1, 2022, the group released New Jeans, which quickly captured the attention of fans all over the world and made them the first K-pop group to reach the million-seller mark with a debut album.

The title tune “Hype Boy” held the longest record for any K-pop female act, charting on Billboard Global 200 for 37 weeks in a row. Within less than six months of their debut, NewJeans charted on the Billboard Hot 100 with their global smash tunes, “Ditto” and “OMG,” peaking at 74 and 82, respectively. They continue to dazzle the world with their innovative records while remaining faithful to their musical flair and inherent charm. To further highlight their extensive worldwide appeal, NewJeans also achieved the Guinness World Record for being the fastest K-pop act to surpass one billion Spotify plays. As the first K-pop female act to play at Lolllapalooza in Chicago in August 2023, NewJeans made history by drawing in over 70,000 fans for their first-ever live performance in the United States.

Thousands of fans from around the world have descended on South Korea’s capital Seoul for the League of Legends world championship final on Sunday, widely considered the Super Bowl of e-sports. First held in 2011, the League of Legends (LoL) world championship has rapidly grown to become one of the crown jewels of e-sports, which are globally forecast to attract audiences of nearly 1.4 billion by 2025.

South Korean powerhouse T1, who lost in last year’s world final, will take on China’s Weibo Gaming at the Gocheok Sky Dome, a 16,000-capacity baseball stadium.

“We were never able to advance when the League of Legends world championship was held in South Korea, but this year, we’ve secured the opportunity to play… in front of our Korean fans,” T1’s Faker, a superstar who is frequently referred to as the Michael Jordan of e-sports, stated this week during a press conference.

“I hope to end this rare… opportunity with a positive result.”

The actual Lee Sang-hyeok, often known as Faker, is aiming to win a record-breaking fourth global title with T1. This year at the Asian Games, he won gold with South Korea.

Fans in South Korea, a country obsessed with gaming, yell his name during games, making him a celebrity there.

Many waited in line to take pictures with life-sized cutouts of Faker and his squad at a fan zone put up for the final in central Seoul.

With three years of League of Legends experience under her belt, 22-year-old Park Jeong-hyeon declared, “My favorite is Faker.”

He was compared to the biggest K-pop stars by her: His skill level is so high that I find myself wondering how he manages! He is, in my opinion, e-sports’ BTS.

Many of the people in the fan area were holding props and dressed as characters while they posed for pictures.

The objective of League of Legends is to demolish the opponent’s base as two teams of five players each compete in a battleground.

Screaming and cheering crowds watch the action on huge screens above the teams during competitive games.

Riot Games, the company behind League of Legends, reports that when tickets for the championship match in the 16,000-seat Sky Dome were on sale in August, they sold out in ten minutes.

The live final will also be screened in numerous theaters throughout South Korea. Listings on operator CGV indicate that such tickets likewise sold out quickly.
