DOTA 2 Hero List July 2023: Bali Major Edition & More

9 months ago By AI Smith

The competitive meta of Dota 2 is a constantly shifting landscape, influenced by the innovative strategies and ideas brought forth by professional players. As a result, the hero pool undergoes continuous change, with new heroes rising to prominence while others fade away.

In this comprehensive Dota 2 hero tier list, we categorize the heroes into three tiers based on their significance in the pro scene. While this list covers approximately all top heroes, it’s important to note that Dota 2’s balanced nature allows for many more heroes to be viable choices.

Tier one

  • Morphling
  • Broodmother
  • Pugna
  • Medusa
  • Undying
  • Techies
  • Enchantress
  • Timbersaw

Tier One Heroes:  Know In Detail

Morphling:

With recent changes and sidegrades in patch 7.33, Morphling has solidified his position as a top-tier hero. His carry potential and ability to counter universal cores have made him a staple pick in the safe lane. Notably, Morphling has appeared in nearly every game of the ongoing Bali Major, boasting a staggering contest rate of over 97%.

Players maximize Adaptive Strike to take advantage of recent buffs, utilizing it as both a stat booster and an efficient harassing tool. Furthermore, Morphling’s Aghanim’s Scepter upgrade proves to be a game-changer, allowing him to steal stats from enemy cores and access powerful skills.

Broodmother:

The current winner of the universal hero roulette is Broodmother, who has proven to be an excellent right-click carry. She is unmatched in her ability to completely control the map when viewed from the safe and offlane positions.

In a meta where side lanes hold greater importance than the mid lane, Broodmother’s control over the jungle, outposts, and Twin Gates grants her team significant advantages. While her Spiderlings remain crucial for farming, a new build has emerged, featuring items like Echo Sabre, Harpoon, and Manta Style. With her Insatiable Hunger now scaling with base damage, Broodmother’s late-game scaling is further enhanced.

Pugna:

Pugna has risen to prominence as one of the best enablers in the game. His ability to restore mana efficiently, heal allies, and contribute substantial damage makes him a highly sought-after hero. Pugna’s Life Drain ability alone would secure him a spot in the meta, but his prowess extends to laning, where his high mana pool and base damage allow him to dominate opponents.

Additionally, his Nether Ward serves as a potent deterrent, dealing significant magic damage and countering illusions. Pugna’s versatility and ability to make allies impervious to attacks with Decrepify add further value to his kit.

Medusa:

Although it took some time for the changes introduced in patch 7.33b to gain recognition, Medusa quickly became a must-pick hero. The rework of her abilities, particularly the addition of a free skill point in Mana Shield, propelled her to broken levels.

Increased base intelligence and improved scaling on her skills solidified her position as the number one hard carry. Medusa’s capability to farm quickly and safely, coupled with her unkillable nature and damage scaling, makes her a late-game monster. Her Mystic Snake, Split Shot, and Stone Gaze offer crowd control and immense damage output.

Undying:

Known for his one-dimensional gameplay, Undying has undergone a transformation with the introduction of his Aghanim’s Shard in patch 7.33. The Tombstone’s Grab Ally ability is now considered the most potent save in Dota 2.

Its immunity to spells like Black Hole and Chronosphere, along with its ability to hold players almost indefinitely, has made it a crucial tool in team fights. Undying’s Decay remains a formidable laning ability, effectively zoning out enemies. His Flesh Golem amplifies damage and aids in objective-taking. Undying has become a versatile hero with a strong presence in the meta.

Techies:

The Techies, often considered a niche hero, have become one of the most in-demand support picks. The change to universal status has turned them into overwhelming laners, leveraging Sticky Bomb’s slows and their high attack range to outmatch most other heroes. Reactive Taser shuts down right-click-dependent heroes, making Techies a potent counter. The 7.33 changes to Blast Off! provide a stun without the need for an Aghanim’s Shard, improving team fight impact. Techies’ Proximity Mines offer wave and camp farming capabilities, turning them into versatile support capable of dealing significant damage.

Enchantress:

Enchantress stands out as one of the few supports that can effectively handle other meta laners. Her ability to control creeps swings the laning advantage back in her favor. Later in the game, Enchantress is often built as a semi-carry, with Hurricane Pike as the go-to first item.

This allows her to increase her push range and potentially eliminate targets with a barrage of Impetus attacks. Her defensive abilities, Untouchable and Nature’s Attendants, make her difficult to kill, enabling her to contribute to fights continuously.

Timbersaw:

Timbersaw shines as a top-tier offlaner with the flexibility to transition to the mid lane. His staying power in the lane is unparalleled, thanks to the difficulty of cutting through Reactive Armor, making him a nuisance to opponents.

The introduction of his Aghanim’s Scepter provides an active damage barrier, increasing his late-game survivability and damage potential. Timbersaw benefits from added right-click damage, enhancinghis laning presence and tower pushing capabilities.

Tier Two and Three Heroes:

Tier two heroes, including Batrider, Doom, Storm Spirit, Ember Spirit, Tidehunter, Beastmaster, Anti-Mage, Enigma, Naga Siren, Pangolier, Dark Seer, and Snapfire, are stable picks that may not reach the dominance of tier one heroes but still offer valuable contributions to a team’s composition. These heroes excel in specific circumstances and can be strong choices when the conditions favor their skill sets.

Tier two

  • Batrider
  • Doom
  • Storm Spirit
  • Ember Spirit
  • Tidehunter
  • Beastmaster
  • Anti-Mage
  • Enigma
  • Naga Siren
  • Pangolier
  • Dark Seer
  • Snapfire

Tier three heroes, such as Clockwerk, Shadow Demon, Bloodseeker, Monkey King, Rubick, Spirit Breaker, Skywrath Mage, Terrorblade, Templar Assassin, Faceless Void, Silencer, and Primal Beast, possess unique strengths that make them powerful additions to a team’s draft. They may serve as niche counters to popular heroes, offer specialized playstyles, or contribute to a team’s overall strategy.

Tier three

  • Clockwerk
  • Shadow Demon
  • Bloodseeker
  • Monkey King
  • Rubick
  • Spirit Breaker
  • Skywrath Mage
  • Terrorblade
  • Templar Assassin
  • Faceless void
  • Silencer
  • Primal Beast

The Dota 2 hero tier list for the Bali Major showcases the heroes that have risen to prominence in the current competitive meta. Tier one heroes like Morphling, Broodmother, Pugna, Medusa, Undying, Techies, Enchantress, and Timbersaw have demonstrated exceptional performance and popularity in professional play.

Meanwhile, tier two and three heroes bring their own strengths and utility to the table, making them solid picks in the right circumstances. As the meta continues to evolve, players and teams must adapt and experiment with different hero combinations to stay competitive and gain an edge in the ever-changing Dota 2 landscape.
