MF Ghost Anime Series Drops 5th Trailer, Release Date And More
The official YouTube channel of the MF Ghost anime released its fifth promotional video on 26th September 2023. The video also revealed that the upcoming anime will go on air on Monday, 1st October 2023 on Tokyo MX, RKB Mainichi Broadcasting channel, and BS11. The anime will be available to for worldwide streaming on Crunchyroll.
A Japanese manga series by Shuichi Shigeno, MF Ghost is the sequel to the highly praised Initial D series. The manga’s serialization was started back in September 2017, however, due to Shigeno’s poor health, it went through many hiatuses. Despite some setbacks, the manga series is still going strong and now the anime series is now on the way. It has been serialized in Kodansha’s Weekly Young Magazine and has 17 tankōbon volumes.
Those who are eager to catch the first episode can also tune into watch on Animax, YTV, Shizuoko Broadcasting System, TV Aichi, TV Setouchi, and Tochigi TV. The promo video also revealed the cast members for four of the characters in the series.
- Yūma Uchida as Kanata Katagiri (Kanata Livington)
Uchida is known for his voice roles in Reo Mikage in Blue Lock and Momoharu Hanazono in Ahiru no Sora.
- Ayane Sakura as Ren Saionji
Sakura has voiced Ochaco Uraraka in My Hero Academia and Secre Swallowtail in Black Clover.
- Daisake Ono as Shun Aiba
He has previously voiced Shintarō Midorima in Kuroko’s Basketball and Erwin Smith in Attack on Titan.
- Tasuku Hatanaka as Ogata
Tasuka has been the voice of Hakkai Shiba in Tokyo Revengers and Denki Kaminari in My Hero Academia.
Felix Flim will be producing the anime with Tomohito Naka at the directorial helm. Tomohito is well-known for his work in the Initial D series like Initial D Legend 2: Racer and Initial D Legend 3: Dream. The original manga was also published in English by Kodansha.
The new trailer for the anime series also reveals that the opening theme song is ‘Jungle Fire’ feat MOTSU and is performed by Yu Serizawa. It also keeps the musical heart of its predecessor with the Eurobeat track that is heard towards the second half of the trailer.
What is MF Ghost about?
MF Ghost takes place in a more futuristic 2020s, this is a time when internal combustion cars have been taken over by self-driving electric ones. However, Ryosuke Takahashi, founder of a company named ‘MFG,’ continues to host street races in Japan. This is when 19-year-old Kanata Katagiri (Kanata Livington), a Japanese-British man takes over the MFG race tracks with a Toyota 86 and his incredible skills. Kanata acquired these skills by being trained by Takumi Fujiwara, who was the iconic protagonist of Initial D.
Fans have high hopes for the anime series as they are excited to see how the anime adaptation will deliver on the high-octane races and intriguing storyline. The sequel to the Initial D series is sure to keep fans of the manga glued to the screen as they follow the protagonist on his journey of racing and finding his father.
