Nike x Fortnite Collabo: All You Need To Know as ‘No NFTs Involved’

1 years ago By AI Smith

Fortnite continues to be one of the most enjoyed games today. The 2017 battle royale set aside its single-player experience to focus almost exclusively on its multiplayer. A safe bet that this week they signed a deal with Nike that would include NFT in the game. What is true here? Nothing.

If you are not very focused on the subject, do not worry. The latest move by Epic Games comes from the slipstream of that same collaboration that Electronic Arts signed almost 20 days ago. The American company allied with .Swoosh to add NFT in future sports games.

A statement of intent for the future. In the case of Fortnite, it is in the immediate future because the collaboration with the clothing giant Nike and its Swoosh Web3 platform was presented 2 days ago under the name “Airphoria”, and it does not add NFT in the game. It is a Nike experience within the Creative Mode of the battle royale with the idea of having players search for the “ultimate Nike shoe”.

This experience will be available in-game until June 27, and players will be able to get a free avatar or backpack in the design of a classic pair of Nike Air Max shoes. However, the unexpected twist comes when we find out that these items are not tokenized.

“The agreement between Fortnite and Nike does not integrate NFTs or digital items into the Fortnite world store. It also does not change its economy. The items recognized in these two ecosystems are purely for the enjoyment of the buyer and are not tradeable or transferable, as always has been the case in the Fortnite economy,” says Decrypt from an Epic Games spokesperson.

Of course, one thing does not take away the other and that is that this collaboration adds a direct connection between the gaming community and the blockchain and non-fungible tokens. Today we have also talked about Only Up, the latest hit on site and which is nothing more than a showcase for NFTs.
