Walmart Unveils New Roblox Experience: Features Games, Sports, Racing, Pets And More

1 years ago By AI Smith

A new Roblox experience called Walmart Discovered is being introduced, according to Walmart. Through a submission process, Walmart Discovered will highlight 300+ local innovators over the course of the next four months, including everyone from experience developers to digital fashion designers.

William White, CMO of Walmart U.S., stated in a statement: “As we started to design this experience, we listened to our growing community on the platform and found that customers were wanting better methods to discover activities and virtual objects. By learning about games, independent experiences, and virtual goods that have been chosen by the community, users (13 and older) can now “find their thing” in a new way.

Users can find popular virtual goods and artists of various sizes in the immersive location; these developers can monetise through sales of their virtual goods using Robux, the platform’s own currency.

Users can investigate such divisions in the world of Walmart Discovered:

  • Sports: Top games in the category of sports and accessories for your avatar.
  • Pet-related virtual goods and experiences.
  • Racing: A location that has been gamified and is based on the platform’s most well-liked racing experiences.
  • Beauty: hot virtual accessories for fashion and beauty from local designers.

Town & City, Entertainment, Trending, and more categories are also available. Later this year, other departments and events will be announced. Users can bookmark virtual goods or novel experiences they’ve come across with the use of the My Department function to revisit or buy later.

Additionally, users will be able to personalize and embellish “their” department, which will include a selfie area where they can flaunt their avatar’s most recent virtual attire by creating social-first material. As users nominate and learn more, they level up in the experience and gain access to the ability to upgrade the My Cart function. This feature enables users to “express themselves and navigate the experience in a way that’s entirely their own.”

Various virtual world experiences will be tested by Walmart over the course of the upcoming year, the company just said. The last step is to include purchasing options in House Flip, a mobile game that Walmart offers on iOS or Android and lets users renovate and market virtual homes.

“We initially started with the ability for players to virtually test certain Glidden paint colors sold at Walmart, generating more than 12 million impressions for the Glidden brand over the first six months,” said Thomas Kang, VP & general manager, Metaverse Commerce, Store No. 8, in a statement.

Walmart intends to launch the capability of contextually and natively making tangible purchases in-game using a Walmart account this month without requiring players to leave the virtual environment.

The retail behemoth has delved farther into the Roblox universe with its latest offering. The shop shut down its Universe of Play space on Roblox earlier this year after operating it for six months; according to the business, this was something it had anticipated. Supercampus, a back-to-school-themed video game, was instead released by the store on Roblox a month ago.

In addition to enabling creators to make money from their works, Walmart’s new experience. The merchant claimed that the digital currency used by Roblox, called Robux, allows creators and developers of all sizes to profit from the sales of virtual goods.

William White, chief marketing officer of Walmart U.S., said in a statement that “millions of customers are exploring virtual platforms, interacting with brands and each other, as well as building online communities.” “That number keeps increasing daily, so we’re spending more time there, testing, learning, and developing innovative experiences that not only inspire customers but also support those communities and connections,” the company said.

In the meantime, more companies and merchants have entered the Roblox community in an effort to connect with the platform’s users. The Virtual Kids Workshop, where users may gather materials and construct projects, was unveiled by The Home Depot in March. With hoodies and T-shirts featuring elements from the retailer’s virtual goods line-up, Forever 21 debuted its F21 Metaverse Collection last year.

The ability for designers to commercialize their Roblox goods is also provided through Threadless, in addition to Walmart. To enable Roblox gamers to purchase virtual apparel for their online avatars, the e-commerce startup earlier this month partnered with Spaceport, a company that specializes in intellectual property licensing. Royalties in US dollars will be paid to Threadless artists from these sales.

With its headquarters in Bentonville, Arkansas, Walmart Inc. (previously Wal-Mart Stores, Inc.) is a global American retail company that runs a chain of hypermarkets (also known as supercenters), cheap department stores, and grocery stores in the United States. Sam and James “Bud” Walton, two brothers, began the business in the neighborhood of Rogers, Arkansas, in 1962. On October 31, 1969, the business was officially formed in Delaware under general corporation law. Additionally, it owns and runs the retail warehouses for Sam’s Club.
