9 months ago By AI Smith

Valorant, Riot Games’ fast-paced and strategic first-person shooter, has captivated millions of players around the world with its thrilling gameplay and diverse agent roster. For those seeking a more challenging and competitive experience, the Valorant ranked system offers an exciting journey through various ranks and tiers.

In this detailed guide, we will explore the intricacies of the Valorant ranked system as of August 2023, including the ranking system, leaderboard, game rules, and essential tips to climb the ladder of success. Whether you are a seasoned competitor or a newcomer looking to dive into ranked play, this article will equip you with valuable insights to dominate the competitive battlefield in Valorant.

Unlocking Rank Mode in Valorant:

To embark on your ranked journey in Valorant, players must first fulfill certain prerequisites. The ranked mode, also known as the competitive mode, becomes accessible once players reach account level 20. To expedite the process of reaching level 20, players can employ efficient strategies to gain XP rapidly in Valorant, earning Account Points (AP) and leveling up faster. For every 5,000 AP earned, players gain one account level.

Valorant Ranks in Chronological Order:

The Valorant ranked system is structured into nine distinct tiers, each comprising three segments, except for the highest rank, Radiant. The rank order in Valorant, in chronological order, is as follows:

  • Iron (Iron 1, Iron 2, Iron 3)
  • Bronze (Bronze 1, Bronze 2, Bronze 3)
  • Silver (Silver 1, Silver 2, Silver 3)
  • Gold (Gold 1, Gold 2, Gold 3)
  • Platinum (Platinum 1, Platinum 2, Platinum 3)
  • Diamond (Diamond 1, Diamond 2, Diamond 3)
  • Ascendant (Ascendant 1, Ascendant 2, Ascendant 3)
  • Immortal (Immortal 1, Immortal 2, Immortal 3)
  • Radiant

The Valorant Ranking System Explained:

a) Basic Rank Games Rules: Upon unlocking the competitive game mode, players commence with an “Unranked” rank badge (denoted by a question mark) in Valorant. The first five matches, known as placement matches, determine a player’s initial rank. Ascendant rank is the highest rank attainable through placement matches. Key rules in Valorant’s ranking system include:

  • Solo queue is allowed in ranked games, but there are restrictions for party queues. Parties of four players cannot queue together to maintain balance and fairness for solo queue players.
  • Parties with players of different ranks must adhere to specific rules to ensure balanced matchmaking.
  • At the end of each episode, lasting approximately six months and consisting of three acts, ranks reset.

b) Rank Rating (RR) in Valorant: Rank Rating (RR) plays a crucial role in the competitive mode, representing the points required to progress from one rank level to another. Players need 100 RR to advance from Iron 1 to Iron 2, and this rule applies until Ascendant 3 rank.

c) Valorant Hidden MMR: Matchmaking Rating (MMR) is distinct from rank rating (RR) and determines a player’s hidden skill level. MMR influences RR gains or losses in ranked games and determines the quality of opponents and teammates.

The Valorant Rank Leaderboard and Act Rank:

Valorant features a ranked leaderboard listing the top 500 players from each region. To maintain their position on the leaderboard, players must play at least one ranked game weekly. Additionally, the Act Rank is assigned at the end of each act, based on the player’s performance and wins in ranked games.

Performance Bonus and Rank Decay in Valorant:

A performance bonus may grant additional RR based on a player’s exceptional performance in a match. However, it is not guaranteed in every ranked game. Unlike some other games, Valorant does not implement rank decay, ensuring players retain their highest rank even if they don’t play regularly. However, players must play a placement match after an extended break to reaffirm their skills and maintain their achieved rank.

Rank Distribution in Valorant (August 2023):

As of August 2023, the rank distribution in Valorant stands as follows:

  • Iron: 5.3%
  • Bronze: 15.9%
  • Silver: 22%
  • Gold: 21.4%
  • Platinum: 17.1%
  • Diamond: 11.4%
  • Ascendant: 5.3%
  • Immortal: 1.3%
  • Radiant: 0.03%

The Valorant ranked system offers an exciting and competitive avenue for players to showcase their skills and climb through the ranks. With an understanding of the unlocking process, rank distribution, rules, MMR, and performance bonuses, players can navigate the competitive battlefield with confidence.

As you embark on your journey in the world of Valorant, remember that determination, teamwork, and strategic thinking are the keys to success. May your path be filled with thrilling victories and unforgettable moments as you ascend to greatness in Valorant’s ranked mode. Good luck and happy gaming!
