Blue Exorcist: Shimane Illuminati Saga Sets To Release Date In January 2024
The highly-anticipated return of the Blue Exorcist anime is currently making waves after an announcement during the Aniplex Online Fest 2023. The popular anime series is being revived after an almost decade long break post the Kyoto Saga. The brand-new anime series name Blue Exorcist: Shimane Illuminati Saga, will return in 2024 and fans are ecstatic.
The anime is based on Kazue Kato’s dark fantasy manga of the same name. The latest adaptation of the Blue Exorcist anime will be covering the manga’s volume 10 to 15. The announcement was received with great excitement from long time fans who have been eagerly waiting for any new update. During the Aniplex Online Fest 2023, a new trailer for the anime and a poster was released. The anime is set to premier sometime in January 2024.
Another thing that fans can look forward to is the return of the series old voice casts from the initial two seasons and the feature film. Toshiya Ohno will be handling the series composition, while Yurie Daito will head the character design department. Kohta Yamamoto and Hirouki Sawano will be coming the music. Studio VOLN will be spearheading this highly-anticipated project.

Since season two of the Blue Exorcist anime reached a neat conclusion to an original storyline, season three could hold many new things for fans. The upcoming Blue Exorcist: Shimane Illuminati is the sixth major story arc from the manga. It will cover chapters 50 to 64 and will follow the events of the Kyoto Impure King arc. There are also two more arcs that take place at the end of Kyoto Impure Arc and the start of the Shimane Illuminati Saga. The two arcs are titled as Terror of the Kraken and Academy Seven Wonders.

The story of Blue Exorcist revolves around a young boy named Rin Okumura who enters an academy for exorcists. Okumura is raised by a famous exorcist named Father Fujimoto and grows up without really knowing who his real father is. During a heated fight between Okumura and Fujimoto, it is revealed that Okumura has a blood of Satan in him. Determined to defeat the demon lord, Okumura attends True Cross Academy, a school for exorcists. However, trying to defeat demons while keeping his demon lineage a secret proves to be a challenging task, especially given his own demonic powers are awakened when he uses his father’s sword.
