Will Call Of Duty 2024 Black Ops Return? All You Need To Know

12 months ago By AI Smith

Attention! Attention! All Call of Duty players united and get ready because the next installment of Call of Duty could be an entry into the Black Ops series! All the information we have so far has been released by WindowsCentral. According to them and their ‘multiple credible resources’ it seems that the next year could bring the sixth game to the Black Ops series.

This game is rumored to take place during the Gulf War. The first-person shooter game is beloved by millions of gamers and you can bet that they are thrilled with this (rumored) news. With Modern Warfare 3 (MW3) now out, everyone is looking forward to whatever next Activision has in store. Right now, the upcoming game remains untitled and according to reports will be focused on the CIA and US’s role in the conflict of the Gulf War.

Even though the Gulf War is something that happened fairly recently in history, there are many Call of Duty players who do not know much about it, as a majority of them wouldn’t have even been born. This is why before we start on any more details regarding the upcoming game, it’s good to understand the backstory that it will be based on.

The backstory of the Gulf War

Starting from August 1990 and ending in January 1991, the Gulf War saw the US lead a coalition force that worked towards liberating the Iraq-occupied Kuwait. This was under the mission called Operation Desert Shield and Operation Desert Storm. The intervention by the US had a large international support, unlike later US military work in the region. The Gulf War was the first war to be televised with reports coming in directly from the frontlines. All this were broadcasted on television. Shadow governments, top secret operations, CIA, use of high tech gadgets, just about everything can be found in this portion of history.

The Gulf War is an interesting part of history that captured the world’s attention and is one that has many valuable source materials for the game to work on. Given that the war is such recent history, players should expect a lot of engaging gameplay and immersive story line. There is also a hint that the game could also possibly address the end of the Cold War.

Details on the Upcoming Game

As per reports from WindowsCentral, the untitled Call of Duty game will dive into this conflict with a more nuanced approach. The game will take a look at some of the different participants that were involved in the war and will even feature more classic weapons, tech, and gadgets from that time period. However, do keep in mind that these are all just speculation at this point and nothing has been confirmed by Activision. Even though the reports have not been corroborated, it is fun to speculate about any further details with the little information that we do have.

The rumors also hinted that Activision could be leaning into the Early Access benefits for pre-orders during this time. Among these are time-gating a few game modes not only for days but possibly weeks. Naturally, the game will also contain a round-based zombie mode and even a Warzone tie-in. One more thing to add is that the development for the next installment could be headed by Treyarch. According to reports, Treyarch has been reportedly working on this game way longer that any of the previous Call of Duty games. With this news, fans can breathe a sigh of relief because it looks like such careful preparation will help avert any disappointed release. This is important as some players were not quite happy with Activision for rushing the launch of Modern Warfare 3 which resulted in the game performing worse than expected.

As hardcore Call of Duty enthusiasts know, the last game that Treyarch worked on was Call of Duty Black Ops: Cold War in 2020. This means that the 2024 release means that the developers have taken their time to created this upcoming game. It is an unusually long time for the team; however, it just means that they have made sure that this is not just another bland release. Activision better be wary because it also means that there is a high levels of expectation for Black Ops 6 to perform well.

The release of the next Black Ops game is also notable because it will be the first launched after the exclusive marketing deal between Activision and Microsoft was finalized. While this is good news for many players, unfortunately, PlayStation5 players will no longer get exclusive benefits to the game that they were used to. This is due to details in the deal. However, that is just a small price to pay and we’re sure that even PS5 players are more excited about a new Call of Duty game in 2024 than just losing small benefits.

Call of Duty players, guess what? You now have something to look forward to in the new year! Whoopee! With the deal closed between Microsoft and Activision, there will be a lot more to expect, especially given that Activision already has the series mapped out till 2027.

Also, now that Activision knows that a quickly produced game, even if it has an early release date, is not something players want. Instead, players are willing to wait a little longer if needed, provided that the result is amazing and worth every minute of the waiting period. The Modern Warfare 3 release was a bit too quick and even had notable negative feedback. But we hope that with Black Ops 6, that is not the case. The long development time means that this won’t be the case and we are banking on that.

As of now, that’s all the details about the untitled Call of Duty Black Ops 6 that we have. We’ll be keeping a close eye on any updates that will be released or leaked in the future. We can say that like millions of Call of Duty players, we are eager to see what exactly is in store. Keep checking in with us and stay tuned!
