The Beginning of Fennec v Octane
Every rivalry has a start and with these two Rocket League car types, it starts at the very beginning. Octane has been in the game since its launch in July 2015. It is one of the common car bodies in Rocket League, making is somewhat of an old classic in the game. However, given that it was one of the first ones, many newer body designs have been based on Octane’s hitbox.
Fennec is one of the cars that have the same hitbox as Octane. Released in July 2019, Fennec is a more recent addition to the game. However, is has managed to garner a fanbase of its own and has even replaced Octane as the new favourite. Many pros and amateur swear by its design and its often used by pros in competitive Rocket League. Due to its rising popularity, it has often been pitted against Octane.
Design Difference
While these two car types share the same hitbox, the designs on both are fundamentally different. Some players even argue that the two shouldn’t even have the same hit box because of how different they are.
To many players, Fennec has a more refined feel as compared to Octane given that its hitbox fits more perfectly with the design. The bulky size of Fennec also makes it seem like it packs more power with every hit. The Octane on the other hand has a pointed tip and has an appearance of an RC car, this gives the feeling that it’s a lighter car and not as powerful as Fennec.
How much do they cost?
Even though Fennec seems to be winning the debate in all aspects, the cost is where Octane gets the point. Octane’s major advantage is that it is completely free of cost. This availability of the car has made it a popular choice among gamers. It is possible to upgrade the look of an Octane, which many have done.
Fennec is an amazing car, but its not free. Those who want one, will have to purchase the car on PC for 400-500 credits. The price of Fennec on XBOX for is 600-800 credits, for Nintendo Switch its 450-600 credits, and on PSN its 400-500 credits.
The price on the Titanium White variants of Fennec and Octane are considered as one of the more expensive in-game items. The cost of Titanium White Octane is between 8880 – 9600 credits, while the Titanium White Fennec costs 2300 – 2500 credits.
