World of Warcraft Announces Pet Bundle For Ukraine Relief: How To Use It
World of Warcraft has revealed a collaborative effort with popular actress and activist Mila Kunis and the BlueCheck Ukraine umbrella charity as part of the ongoing relief efforts in Ukraine. The charity forms a part of two companion pets.
Two pets Sunny the Golden Retriever and Flurky the Baby Murloc will be available in World of Warcraft: Dragonflight and Wrath of the Lich King Classic respectively. 100% of all purchases made during the event will go directly to BlueCheck Ukraine for a limited time.
Although it is not the first time World of Warcraft is helping charities through the Battle.net Shop. The recent charity history with Ukraine has been controversial. Earlier this year, Blizzard had announced plans to increase the monthly subscription price of World of Warcraft. The charity money will be applicable to both Ukraine and Turkey in response to the global inflation and the increasing costs.
The price hike in Turkey was implemented, but Blizzard changed its mind on raising pricing in Ukraine as a result of the ferocious player backlash on forums and social media. However, Blizzard’s cooperation with Ukraine didn’t end there.
From now until August 29, every money spent by World of Warcraft players who buy the $20 Pet Pack for Ukraine will go straight to BlueCheck Ukraine. BlueCheck Ukraine is an initiative co-founded by actor and activist Liev Schreiber, that brings together a number of carefully screened charities, including Project Victory and the Lviv International Symphony Orchestra, to offer various forms of humanitarian aid to Ukrainians caught in the crossfire.
Mila Kunis, an actress most known for her work on That ’70s Show alongside her husband Ashton Kutcher, said in a video broadcast by Blizzard that she was born in Ukraine but migrated to the United States in 1991. Kunis was contacted by Schreiber about BlueCheck Ukraine after collecting money to support the rescue operations in Ukraine, which ultimately led to the collaboration between the two brands.
Since Sunny and Flurky’s respective colors of gold and blue correspond to those of the Ukrainian flag, they were both picked for this charity campaign. Additionally, Flurky carries a sunflower, which also is regarded as the national flower of Ukraine. Players of World of Warcraft who purchase the Pet Pack for Ukraine will automatically have Sunny added to their Dragon flight pet collection. But in order to get Flurky, Wrath of the Lich King Classic gamers will have to complete a quick quest. You can begin the quest by speaking to any innkeeper in the capital city or Landro Longshot in Booty Bay.
