Who Is Charanjot Singh? Indian Esports Contingent Dominates At FIFA Asian Games Seeding
Charanjot Singh, a FIFA athlete from India made headlines by displaying his dominance in the South Asia seeding esports competition. He won over Nepal, Bangladesh, and Sri Lanka to help India get a good seeding for the next Asian Games to be held in Hangzhou in 2023.
It was a best-of-three format where Charanjot outlasted his opponents in an incredible manner with his skills. The Indian player started out by winning consecutive matches with similar scores of 2:1 against Sameer Gurung of Nepal and Dishan Sheruban Nithianathan of Sri Lanka.
He then went on to defeat Bangladesh’s Oytijjho Al Aff Tajwar Majumder with a lead of 2:0 to maintain his undefeated streak at the seeding event.
Talking about how he felt about the outcomes at the event, Charanjot Singh said, “Reflecting on the results, I feel proud to have got the opportunity to showcase my skills and gain a favorable seeding for India.”
India’s star performer adds, “I had put in long hours of practice and strategizing in order to prepare for my opponents and I am glad that it all worked to perfection. The level of competition at the Asian Games will be fierce, but I have full faith in my abilities. I will be giving my all to bring home a medal.”
Another Indian, Karman Singh, who is a well-known FIFA athlete finished fifth in the seeding competition. Singh is all set to represent his nation in the competition in Hangzhou.
Both the athletes had secured a spot in the Asian Games after winning the National Esports Championships (NESC), held by the Esports Federation of India (ESFI). Esports is all set to make its debut as an official medal event at the Asian Games in 2023. The top 21 FIFA teams from the Asian region will lock horns with each other aat the event.
India will participate in four game events, namely, FIFA Online 4, Street Fighter V: Champion Edition, DOTA 2, and League of Legends. India’s DOTA 2 team finished second in their seeding group round and among the top eight in the overall online tournament.
Similarly, India’s League of Legends team won a great seeding by remaining undefeated against Sri Lanka, Kazakhstan, and Kyrgyzstan in their LAN seeding event held in Macau. In Street Fighter V, Ayan Biswas and Mayank Prajapati were two of the top competitors representing the nation. The two finished fifth and sixth in their seeding competition, respectively.
