Warzone 2 DMZ: Raul Menendez Easter Egg Guide August 2023: Rewards, Quests, Tips And More

The well-known Heart Locket of Raul Menendez, an item from Black Ops 2. was recently found in the DMZ, thus suggesting some link between the two. In their games, Activision and Treyarch are renowned for including Easter eggs. 

Essentially, DMZ gives you and your team the task of infiltrating and navigating the Al Mazrah map from Warzone 2.0 in order to accomplish a set of goals.

After you’ve completed your tasks or wish to leave mid-way, simply navigate your way to specific exfiltration points. These may be guarded by other crafty players before exiting the map with your treasure.

But DMZ is more than simply a combat game, as recent revelations suggest possible lore links to Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 (2012).

What is the Raul Menendez Easter egg in Warzone 2 DMZ?

The Easter egg is a heart locket that looks identical to the one Raul Menendez had in Black Ops 2. It is a golden heart-shaped locket that has played an important role in the title’s marketing campaign. The locket also debuted in Blackout mode in CoD: Black Ops 4.

In CoD: Black Ops 2, Menendez’s gold heart-shaped locket can be seen numerous times. In CoD: Black Ops 4’s Blackout mode, it also appears as a special  item.

As seen in Black Ops II’s prologue opening, the locket actually belonged to Josefina Menendez, the sister of the game’s major antagonist, Raul Menendez. The image also shows Raul ready to sever Josefina’s throat with the locket’s sharp end while Josefina pleads with him, “Don’t leave me.” There is a picture of Josefina in the locket.

In the beginning of “Old Wounds,” Jason Hudson, and Frank Woods are among the victims Raul murders with it. With the latter, Raul kills him after escaping from prison by entering The Vault.

Before the main game events, Raul Menendez approached Woods at The Vault and handed him the locket while stating, “Now it begins.” The locket stayed with the latter until it mysteriously disappeared just before David “Section” Mason paid him a visit in June.

The locket that was found next to Sawah Village’s Al Mazrah cemetery resembles Raul Menendez’s heart locket from Black Ops 2.

In Black Ops 4 Blackout, the necklace is a special item that may be acquired from supply drops. You can play as Raul Menendez in the Character Mission once you obtain it.

Who is Raul Menendez?

In 1963, Raul Menendez was born in Nicaragua. A terrible opposition revolt supported by the US ruined his upbringing. After his father founded the Menendez Cartel and was killed by the CIA, Raul took over as leader. He became a hostile political activist as a result of his sister Josephina’s passing, which incensed him.

He rose to become the terrorist group “Cordis Die’s” leader. Targeting important cities in China and the United States, Raul Menendez launched a cyberattack against automated drones. The actor who portrays Raul Menendez is Kamar de los Reyes.
