Virtus.pro Lose Their ESL Pro League Spot

A period of poor performances for Virtus.pro continues. Their latest disappointment came just recently in their match against PENTA. The match would decide which team will be securing their spot in the ELS Pro League. Virtus.pro has been playing very bad this season. Because of this, they had to play for their spot in the ESL Pro League against PENTA.

Even though they had a very bad season, nobody expected that Virtus.pro to be relegated from the competition. This was especially so since PENTA did not have any results that might lead fans to conclude they could defeat the much stronger opponent.

Big Disappointment for Virtus.pro

This is only the second time since Virtus.pro started competing in the Counter-Strike: Global Offensive competitions that they have been relegated from the ESL Pro League. In their match against PENTA, they seemed to stand zero chance at winning. PENTA cruised to a 2-0 win.

This season has been one of the worst for Virtus.pro. They managed to win in only nine matches out of 26 that they’ve played so far. There has only been one team this season that has a worse record than Virtus.pro, and that is team Kinguin.

As mentioned before, Virtus.pro was defeated in both maps. The result on both maps, Inferno and Train, was identical, and it was 16:7 for PENTA. In the first map, Virtus.pro managed to secure only 5 CT rounds. The second map was even worse as they managed to secure only two CT in that map.

However, as the match was going into the second map, Train, which all Virtus.pro players describe as their favorite one, the team was expected to make a comeback. However, that did not happen. The second map was almost identical to the first one, and after PENTA had managed to win the first five rounds, it became clear that Virtus.pro will have an impossible job of coming back in the match. In the end, PENTA won that map with the identical score as in the first map, sending Virtus.pro out of the ESL Pro League.

Hellraisers Maintain Their ESL Pro League Position

In the other relegation match of the tournament, Hellraisers had to face BiG. Considering that they too have performed very badly this season, Hellraisers also feared for their position in the ESL Pro League. They started this match badly as they were defeated by BiG in the first map with the score 16:0. This was mostly thanks to BiG’s Legija who put on an amazing performance in the first map. However, in the second map, Overpass, Hellraisers were able to put on a much better performance and eventually managed to secure the win.

However, in the third map, it was all about Hellraisers. They managed to accumulate the advantage of 16:2 in that match. Until the end of the map, Hellraisers maintained the advantage, and in the end, they won the third round with the score 16:9. Unlike Virtus.pro, Hellraisers managed to defend their position in the ESL Pro League. BiG, unfortunately, will have to wait for another opportunity.
