TnC Pro Team to Sign an All-Female Dota 2 Squad
|
Female eSports competitions do not get the attention that they deserve for some unknown reason. Besides that, the gap between male and female eSports competitions in almost all aspects is enormous. Thus, rarely any big eSports organization has decided the host the all-female team. TnC Pro has decided to change this.
In the last couple of years, the situation has been changing. Even though lately there have been only sporadic news about all-female teams, it seems that more and more female teams are appearing on the scene. The latest news about this issue says that TnC Pro Team will be signing an all-female team. The team will be competing in the Dota 2 competitions. When it comes to Dota 2, it needs to be said that there are currently no all-female Dota 2 teams in the world.
The TnC Pro Audition
The official Twitter account of TnC Pro Team revealed last night that they will start hosting auditions. During these, they will be looking for the members for their new female Dota 2 team. According to the information available at this moment, the audition should start on July 8th. The end date for those auditions has not been revealed. The goal of the auditions will be to find the best Dota 2 female players they can to form their new squad.
However, TnC Pro has not revealed any information about the registration process or other the conditions on who could apply for these auditions. Besides that, information about the criteria that will be used to select the members of the team have also not been revealed. For those of you who are not aware, this will not be the first time that a woman will be a member of their team.
Currently, Murielle ‘Kips’ Huisman is working as a coach and an analyst in the team. It really is great to see that women achieve success in what was unjustifiably male dominant area. Before joining TnC, Kips worked for Fnatic when they were competing in The International 6. With her help, Fnatic managed to reach the fourth place in the competition.
The Community Response
TnC has not revealed a lot about these auditions. However, the reaction from the community has been more than overwhelming. Many members of the eSports community all over the world have expressed their support for this kind of action. A huge majority of them are saying that this should happen much more often.
TnC will not be the first eSports organization to host an all-female Dota 2 team. Back around 2013 and 2014, which was the golden age for female eSports, many organizations hosted female teams. Around the end of 2012, Virtus.pro became the first Dota 2 team that hosted a female roster. Some of the players from that team are very respectable figures in the Dota 2 community.
Jumping to 2017, we can see that female Dota 2 teams might be making a comeback because of Newbee.Boss participated in the DAC 2017 pre-qualifiers with the mixed team. In the end, Newbee.Boss finished the pre-qualifiers in the 9-10th place, but it was one huge step for the return of female teams to the Dota 2 competitions.
