“They all are rumours”: says Illumination Chief on Zelda animated movie
Following the massive success of Super Mario Bros Movie now another breaking news has been brought up in a scenario related to a supposed sequel of the animated movie. Then Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom movie and other franchises were rumoured to follow in the footsteps of the Plumber’s movie.
However, this report of a Zelda movie on the way has now been denied. It has been confirmed via Illumination, the company Nintendo collaborated with on the Mario movie.
At the Annecy International Animation Festival, TheWrap spoke to Chris Meledandri, the founder and CEO of Illumination, asking him about Link’s possible arrival on the big screen. The creative denied this rumour, clarifying that although he understands how people can assume various things due to the successful collaboration between the companies, there is nothing concrete at this time.
Meledandri also mentioned that he is now on Nintendo’s board of directors. Benjamin Renner, director of the upcoming Illumination movie “Migration,” mentioned that he sees a rumour every week, and this week the rumour is Zelda.
Although Meledandri denied the rumour, he acknowledged that the successful partnership between the two studios and Illumination’s parent company Universal will surely continue.
We will have to be attentive to more details, especially after the sequel rumours. Meanwhile, we remind you of the contents and details of the physical editions of the Mario movie and the digital content they include.
