The OGN Overwatch APEX Season 2 Finals Preview

Vedran Ostojic | April 8, 2017 | Overwatch | No Comments
OGN Overwatch APEX Season 2

Season two of the OGN Overwatch APEX League will come to an end in just a couple of days, on April 8th, to be precise. The final match of this event will be played between RunAway and Lunatic-Hai. This entire season has been one big excitement for the Overwatch fans all over the world and this Saturday, it will all culminate in the match between two teams that have displayed the most throughout the entire season. Because of that, the final match of this tournament will be one of the best Overwatch matches that will be played this year.

Lunatic-Hai’s Roster strategy and issues

Even before the first season of this competition, Lunatic-Hai has been considered to be the best Overwatch team from South Korea. Even though they had some good results in online tournaments, they have yet to win their first LAN event. However, now many are claiming that Lunatic-Hai has the best Overwatch roster and that the time has finally come for them to win their first LAN title. Currently, Lunatic-Hai’s roster features Ryu ‘Ryujehon’ Je-hong and Gong ‘Miro’ Jinhyuk. Both of these players were considering to be the best players in the entire world when it comes to the heroes that they are using.

The second season for Lunatic-Hai started not that good, and they had to make certain changes in the roster. As if that was not enough, Lunatic-Hai, at the beginning of the year, had to deal with a scandal that saw two of their players quitting Overwatch competitions and eventually retiring. The new member at the start of this year was Kim ‘Zunba’ Joon Hyuk, and it turned out that his style of play goes really well with the style of play of other players in the team. Besides Zunba, Lee ‘Whoru’ Seung Joon also joined Lunatic-Hai Overwatch team, and in that way, they managed to create a team with one of the most powerful rosters ever.

RunAway’s run to the top

On the other hand, RunAway’s path to the final was a story for itself. During the group stage, they could not find their footing, and they ended up in the last place in the group. However, they managed to turn the tables completely, and through the promotion tournament they managed to stay alive and in the end reach the final where they might not be favourites for the win, but that will take the pressure of RunAway players. One of the reasons why RunAway managed to do that is the fact that their Ryu ‘Kaiser’ Sang-hoon changed his play completely and over this tournament he became the main force in RunAway’s squad.

Kaiser is not the only one who displayed amazing game for RunAway in their conquest to the final. Kim ‘KoX’ Min Soo, RunAway’s newest player, also performed beyond anyone’s expectations. With all that has been said it is clear that this will truly be an epic match. Lunatic-Hai is without a doubt favored for the win. However, RunAway has already pulled some unbelievable, almost impossible and amazing games during the OGN Overwatch APEX League and no one can guarantee that they will not pull another miracle in the final match.
