Team Freedom did not have much success over the last couple of months when it comes to the Dota 2 esports competitions. After Team Freedom failed to qualify for the Kiev Major, the North America based squad has been going through some hard times. Even though there were no reports about any problems in the team, it became obvious from their appearances and performances that something is wrong. The fans and the general public were just waiting to see what will happen with the Team Freedom. Many of those people expected that some players might be leaving the team and that some new players might be coming, but no one saw coming what the latest announcement from what Team Freedom said.
Official Announcement From Team Freedom
Taking it to Twitter, the official Twitter account of Team Freedom tweeted that the entire team will be taking a break from Dota 2 esports competitions at least for the upcoming period by tweeting that they were going on a hiatus from the game and would return later in the year. The tweet also thanked all the fans and announced great things were coming in the future.
This statement caused a lot of fuss in the gaming community. Even though Team Freedom did not have much success at the recent tournaments that they participated in, their previous accomplishments indicate that this is a very good Dota 2 esports team and that their bad form will come to an end sooner or later. However, it seems that the organization did not have any patience to wait for that bad form to go away.
This season, tournament after tournament, Team Freedom has been failing to produce any results that might silence the critics and give hope to their fans that they might be returning to the winning path. In the only couple of weeks, they were eliminated from the North America Kiev Major playoffs by Team Onyx and by Digital Chaos in the qualifiers for the Dota 2 Asian Championships which seems to be the straw that broke the camel’s back.
The Players Keeping Quite
So far, none of the players has spoken publicly about this, and it is still not clear what will happen with those players including Shane ‘Eagle’ Milke, Michael ‘ixmike88’ Ghannam, Enzo ‘Timado’ Gianoli, Andrew ‘Jubei’ Evelyn and Brian ‘BananaSlamJamma’ Canavan. People are speculating that all these players will be terminating their contracts with Team Freedom and that they will be soon looking for a new team. This is a very realistic scenario, but while these players are looking for new teams, Team Freedom will have to look for the new players, but in order to do that, they will have to wait for the contracts of certain players to expire so that they can sign them as free agents.
However, nothing has been confirmed yet except the fact that Team Freedom will not participate in the Dota 2 competitions for the remaining part of the season. We are still waiting to hear from the Team Freedom officials about the future of the organizations, but right now it seems that Team Freedom will have to work very hard to get their place back.
