Taiwan Excellence Gaming Cup India To Host Mega Gaming Event 2023
Taiwan Excellence Gaming Cup (TEGC) 2023, a gaming competitive event bringing together multiple esports recently announced a mega event. Taiwan Excellence Gaming Cup India announced that it will be hosting a mega event in the country this month.
The event will begin on September 28 and will continue till October 22. The event will have elimination rounds that will be conducted on virtual platforms. Eventually the finale will be an in-person live event. The organisers announced that the venue for the live finale has not yet been finalised and it will be revealed later.
This year marks the tenth edition of the TEGC. However, it will be for the first time ever that it will bring together all previous TEGC champions from India on one single stage. There will be tech influencers who will be livestreaming the event. The tournament will include several men’s and women’s competitions.
The 10th edition of the tournament is all set to be hosted in September and October and will feature a prize pool of over Rs. 1 crore. Taiwan Excellence Gaming Cup is one of the longest-running esports championships in India. The event has actively helped launch the gaming careers of many e-sports enthusiasts. This year too the Taiwan Excellence Gaming Cup tournament will be open for participation for all gamers, regardless of gender.
While talking at the launch of the event, Poyi Edison Hsu, Director of Taipei World Trade Centre Liaison Office in Mumbai (TAITRA- Mumbai) said, “From 500 participants at its debut, the TEGC has come a long way with the 10th edition expected to have over 25,000 young Indian gamers battling it out to be the champion.”
At this year’s edition of Taiwan Excellence Gaming Cup, in addition to the main tournament, TEGC 2023 will also include a special event to celebrate women power in esports. The event will witness India’s top 10 female gamers lock horns for a prize pool of Rs. 1 lakh.
Edison Hsu added, “The 10th edition of TEGC is extra special as it will see all former TEGC champions on one platform. For the first time, the TEGC finale will also have a special event to acknowledge women power in esports with India’s top 10 women gamers showcasing their gaming prowess.”
The tournament will also be promoted at multiple college and gaming festivals across India. At these colleges and gaming fest the visitors will get a chance to experience Made in Taiwan products.
The organizers also plan to collaborate with an NGO that is actively working with underprivileged children as part of the event’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The tie-ups and collaborations are aimed at giving the underprivileged children a stage to get an experience of gaming.

A report by Mordor Intelligence has reportedly estimated that India’s gaming market will grow from USD 3.02 billion in 2023 to USD 6.26 billion by 2028, a CAGR of 15.68% during the period.
He further commented on the future of esports in India. Edison Hsu said, “India’s demographic advantage, growing IT infrastructure and internet and smartphone penetration augurs well for the future of the gaming industry.”
The TEGC 2023 is backed by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), the Government of India. The tournament has also got the support from leading gaming brands such as AORUS, AROMASE, CyberPower, D-Link, MSI, Predator, Republic of Gamers, Thermaltake, VICTOR, and Zyxel among others.
The registration for TEGC 2023 is now live. Gamers willing to participate can register for the tournament via the TEGC website. The tournament will be held in multiple cities across India.
