SK Gaming Wins

This year’s CS_Summit was the first international Counter-Strike: Global Offensive tournament that Beyond The Summit has ever organized. In the end, it was SK Gaming, Brazilian eSports organization, who claimed the prestigious title.

In the grand finals of the tournament, SK Gaming faced Gambit eSports, a team that they had already played with during the earlier stages of the event. SK Gaming did not have many problems on their way to the grand finals of this tournament. By winning the title, they proved they are currently among the three of four of the best Counter-Strike: Global Offensive teams in the world.

Road to Victory

Their first match at this tournament was against Team EnVyUs. Even though many expected that SK Gaming might enter this tournament slowly in the first one or two rounds, they demonstrated great dominance in the game against Team EnVyUs. They won both, Cache and Mirage maps in that match.

Their next match was against Cloud9, and since that was the semi-final game, everybody expected SK Gaming would have a more difficult job ahead of them. Cloud9 had the advantage on the first map but thanks to the performance of Gabriel ‘FalleN’ Toledo, SK Gaming managed to make a comeback. In the end, they won the first map by the score 16-14.

In the second map of the semi-final match, Cloud9 managed to surprise everyone by winning that map with the score 16-9. The second game indicated some problems in SK Gaming’s performance and Cloud9 hoped that they might use that in the deciding third map.

However, SK Gaming managed to find their footing in game three, and closed the Mirage map the score 16-8. That meant that SK Gaming would be advancing to the finals. For Cloud9 that was the first defeat of the tournament. In the winners bracket finals, SK Gaming faced Gambit eSports, and they manage to win both maps of the match very easily.

However, Gambit eSports got the opportunity for the revenge when they were forced to play in the loser brackets finals. In that match, Gambit eSports was more successful and with the win, Gambit eSports secured their place in the grand finals of the tournament.

Deciding the Winner

In the first map of the grand finals, SK Gaming started surprisingly slow, allowing Gambit eSports to gain initial advantage. This proved to be crucial for the result of the first map. SK Gaming attempted to make a comeback, but they couldn’t do it, and Gambit eSports won the first map 16-10.

In the second map, SK Gaming proved their greatness by winning with a big 16-2 difference. The third and the decisive game of the final proved to be the most interesting. Gambit eSports managed to gain advantage in the initial stages of the game. However, thanks to the effort of FalleN, SK Gaming managed to find the holes in the opponent’s defense. That ended up being a crucial advantage, securing victory for SK Gaming

For SK Gaming, this was the first title at the CS:GO events this season. With it, they joined the likes of Virtus.pro, FaZe Clan, and Astralis  in the number of titles this season.
