Reigning Champs Receive The First Summit 7 Invitation

Reigning Champs

The first Invitee for the Summit 7 Revealed and it is Virtus.pro

Dota Summit 7 will be the seventh Dota 2 tournament in a series of offline events organised by Beyond The Summit, and the Summit 7 will be one of the last tournaments before The International. The Summit 7 will be played from June 14th to June 18th in Los Angeles. The prize pool for this event will be $100,000, and this will be a great opportunity for eSports teams to check their current form and to make the improvements that they need before The International, and there will be more than enough time to do that.

Recently, teams had the opportunity to compete at the Kiev Major qualifiers with the main event now quickly approaching. After this, best teams in the world will be heading to Los Angeles where they will be checking out what needs to be done to be in good form for The International. Just like it was the case last year, many teams will use this tournament in order to try new plays, new tactics and new approaches to the game – everything that they can benefit from at The International 2017 that will take place in August.

In the LAN finals of this tournament, eight teams will be fighting for the title and four out of these eight teams will receive the direct invitation for the main event while the remaining four spots will be filled by the teams that go through and win the regional qualifiers. These regional qualifiers will be organised for the regions of North America, China, SEA regions, and for Europe. When talking about the regional qualifiers, it needs to be said that SEA regional qualifiers have already started while the regional qualifiers for Europe, China, and North American will be played on May 7th. The tournament will also feature two groups in which teams will be fighting for the top places. Teams that finish in the top two places will advance to the next stage where they will be playing in the elimination bracket all the way until the final match.

First Formal Invitation Sent To Reigning Champions

The first out of four eSports teams that received the direct invitation for the Dota 2 Summit 7 is Virtus.pro. Virtus.pro are not strangers when it comes to The Summit because they already played at the tournament on several occasions and are the current tournament title holders. For them, this will be a very interesting tournament because they will attempt to defend the title – an achievement that only a few eSports teams or organisations can brag about. Even though only one direct invitee has been revealed up to this point, it is expected that many others teams that can be characterised as the best Dota 2 teams in the world will be participating at this event. Because of that, it will not be easy for Virtus.pro to defend the title but since they are ruling champions of this tournament, they will probably be in the best possible position to achieve that.

More news about the Summer 7 will be revealed soon and we will try to bring all the important information about this event as soon as it gets announced or officially confirmed.
