PUBG Mobile Global Championship (PMGC) 2023 Prize Pool Sees Reduction Compared To Last Two Editions

7 months ago By AI Smith

$3 million will be awarded in total prizes for the PUBG Mobile Global Championship (PMGC) 2023. 51 teams would be chosen from all across the world for this major event, Tencent first declared. The corporation then announced that, rather than 51 squads, 50 will compete in this competition. The PMGC will be held in two phases and will be the fourth edition of the Global Championship.

48 teams will compete in this competition’s League Stage, which will begin on November 2 and end on November 26. From January 8 to January 10, 2024, Istanbul, Turkey, will serve as the host city for its Grand Finals. For 14 spots in the Grand Finals, where two teams will be invited directly, 48 teams will compete in the League phase.

Regarding the involvement of Indian BGMI teams in this upcoming international competition, Tencent has not made any comments. Three open positions, including one for the Finals and two for the League stage of this tournament, are still unknown to the public, according to the firm.

Compared to the previous two seasons, the prize pool for PMGC 2023 has decreased.

The $2 million overall prize fund for the Global Championship’s initial season in 2020 made it a highly popular event in terms of viewership. Over 3.8 million people watched the tournament’s top audience. Tencent upped the prize fund to $6 million for the 2021 season in response to this achievement. Nova Esports from China won both seasons.

The prize pool for the PMGC 2022 was, however, decreased by Tencent to $4 million. This time, the studio reduced the winner’s award even further, to $3 million, for the competition in 2023. It’s important to note that S2G Gaming from Turkey won the 2022 event.

The Grand Finals of the 2022 PUBG Mobile Global Championship (PMGC) came to a close on January 8, 2023 after three days of tense competition. DRS Gaming made history for Nepali esports by taking second place in the competition, surprising both spectators and fans.
