PMGC 2023 Grand Finals Slots Distribution: All You Need To Know

The PUBG Mobile Global Championship 2023 (PMGC 2023) is one of the biggest esports tournaments in the world. It is the final event of the 2023 esports season for PUBG Mobile. In the group draw for the PMGC 2023 League Stage, game developers Tencent released more information regarding the final stage of the tournament. The group draw took place on 11th October 2023, and it was here that the format, schedule, and other details of the mega event was revealed. The event will have 50 teams participating from all around the world. The prize pool for PMGC 2023 is an eye-popping $3 million!

Almost all the team slots have been filled for the League Stage as many of the regional tournaments have come to an end. For now, 48 teams have been finalized to compete for the month-long League Stage where they will fight for the final 14 slots in the Grand Finals. The Grand Finals will take place from 8th to 10th January 2024, in Turkey. Team TEC from China were able to secure a place in the finals by topping the PEL 2023 rankings.

All Information on PMGC 2023: Groups, Format, and Dates

The PMGC 2023 League Stage has been divided into three phases. They are the Group Stage, Survival Stage, and Last Chance. Let’s take a look at each of these stages and what is in store for the teams that make it to them.

  1. Group Stage (2nd to 19th November)

Starting from 2nd November till 19th November 2023, the 48 teams will be split into three groups that are Green, Red, and Yellow. Each group will have 24 matches each, and the teams will be competing for three slots in the Grand Finals. Here, the teams that rank from 4th to 11th place from each group will get another chance to compete for a slot in the Last Chance stage. The other teams that do not make it, will be eliminated from PMGC 2023.

  • Survival Stage (22nd to 24th November)

The Survival Stage is the second stage of the esport event. The 24 teams that make it to this round will be split into three groups. The teams will then compete in a round-robin format to make it to the 16 slots for the next stage. Teams that find themselves in the bottom eight of this stage will be eliminated from the PMGC 2023.

  • Last Chance (25th to 26th November)

The 16 teams that have made it from the Survival Stage will now have one last chance to secure a spot in the Grand Finals. Only the top 5 teams from this stage will enter the finale of the PMGC 2023 tournament.

PMGC 2023 Grand Finals

Lastly, only 16 teams will make it to the Grand Finals. The Grand Finals will take place from 8th to 10th December 2023 in Istanbul, Turkey. There will be a total of 18 matches that will take place. The winners in the Grand Finals will be declared as the ultimate champions and will take home the lion’s share of the $3 million prize pool. The slot distribution for this phase will be as follows:

  • Two Direct Invites

This means that two of the best of the best teams will be called in as wild cards in the finals. TEC is one of the two teams that have secured a special invite by topping the PEL 2023 rankings.  

  • Nine Teams from Group Stage
  • Five Teams from Last Chance

As of now, Tencent has not yet revealed how the prize will be distributed among the top 50 teams. The competition is only going to get even more intense as teams compete for the ultimate title and secure their place in esports history. Stay tuned for more information on PMGC 2023.
