PENTA Sports Disbands Their CS:GO Team

Ivan Potocki | October 16, 2017 | Counter-Strike | No Comments

PENTA Sports has not been in the top ranks of the Counter-Strike: Global Offensive competition for a long period of time. During that entire time, they were looking for ways to come back and to achieve good results. After several lineups, it became clear that it is very hard for the team management to find the right players for the team that will bring good results.

After a long period of debating on what to do, PENTA Sports management has finally reached a decision and their fans will not like the outcome of that decision. Yesterday, it was announced that the team management has reached an agreement with the players from their CS:GO team about the termination of the contracts that all players had with the organization.

Unable to Survive Recent Roster Changes

Just a couple of months ago, PENTA Sports was looking fine and there were no reports about them closing down their CS:GO team. However, in August, three very important components of the team, decided to leave the team. The first player that left PENTA Sports was Kevin ‘HS’ Tarn that joined the North American organization OpTic Gaming. After HS, Miikka ‘suNny’ Kemppi also announced his departure from the team and he joined Mousesports.

The last component that left the team was Niko ‘naSu’ Kovanen who was the team’s head coach. Even though it was not familiar where naSu will be continuing his career, today it was announced that he will be joining GODSENT as their head coach. Those departures left Kevin ‘kRYSTAL’ Amend, Pawel ‘innocent’ Mocek, and Jesse ‘zehN’ Linjala in the team.

After the announcement that PENTA Sports has disbanded their Counter-Strike: Global Offensive team, it was revealed that the last three players from the team have joined the free agency. Apparently, they will not be free agents for a long time as they are some talks about these players already joining other teams.

Not the Final Farewell

Just last year, PENTA Sports had similar problems. During the season they lost half of their team and because of that they were not able to participate in CS:GO tournaments. In order to avoid the situation that happened last year, the team decided to let go all the remaining players while the consolidate the organization and decide on their plans for the future.

According to the team’s official, this does not mean that PENTA Sports has said the final farewell to the CS:GO competitions. According to that official, the organization is ready to negotiate with the same players if they decided to come back to the team. That means that PENTA Sports will not be leaving CS:GO for good and that they will rather be making a short break from the competition.

Those who are familiar with the the team’s management say that PENTA Sports will be returning to the competition after finding the right players for their team and after making sure that the situations like the one that happened last year do not happen anymore. All in all, the European CS:GO scene has suffered a huge blow as one of the oldest European CS:GO team has said goodbye to the competition, at least for the time being.
