Overwatch Rumble: Rogue Outperform Team EnVyUs In The Finals

Vedran Ostojic | April 27, 2017 | Overwatch | No Comments

A couple of weeks ago, it was announced that only two international teams will be invited for the OGN Overwatch APEX Season 3. After many controversies about which two teams should be given the invite, the debate was finally settled when the organizers announced that Rogue and Team EnVyUs have been given the invite. However, before the season 3 of the OGN’s Overwatch tournaments starts, Overwatch teams were competing at another tournament, the Overwatch Rumble online tournament. In the end, only two teams remained, and those two teams were Rogue and Team EnVyUs which proved that they are currently the best Overwatch teams from the West.

The Unexpected Outcome of the Match

Their match in the final was very interesting and very indicative, and the match was taken to the fifth and the decisive game. In the end, it was Rogue that defeated Team EnVyUs 3-2, and with that, they managed to win the first place as well as $6,000. The first three maps of the final match did not feature many interesting things, and with the fourth map, things started to change for the better for the fans. Rogue started game four with a really strong defense which Team EnVyUs did not expect. That, however, made Team EnVyUs adjust their game during the game which is never an easy thing. On the other hand, Rogue managed to use the confusion in Team EnVyUs to their advantage and in all that confusion, Rogue’s Dylan ‘aKm’ Bignet was able to gather several crucial picks before the Team EnVyUs even realized what was going on in that game.

Surprised by the aggression from the Rogue’s side, Team EnVyUs did not manage to capture any points all the way until the last minute of that map. However, as the time was running out for that map, Team EnVyUs managed to push through the Rogue’s game and win significant payload. However, it turned out that the time has passed and Rogue managed to win the fourth map, and with that win, they took the final match to the fifth and the deciding map. At the beginning of the fifth map, both teams managed to secure one point, but it was Rogue who continued to build up and increase their points in the fifth map while Team EnVyUs did not have many opportunities to the same. In the end, Rogue won the fifth map as well as that made the 2017 Overwatch Rumble Champions.

However, the Rogue’s win does not settle the dilemma on which team is the best Overwatch team in the West. Even though both teams had certain problems during this tournament, it was Team EnVyUs that faced bigger problems. Dennis ‘INTERNETHULK’ Hawelka from Team EnVyUs, just one day before the start of the Overwatch Rumble announced that he will not be competing with the team at this tournament and that he will be leaving the team in order to join Laser Kittenz. That left Team EnVyUs one player down and in that situation, it is not easy to play such important matches. Because of that, Rogue’s win in the final against Team EnVyUs might actually not be an indication of which Western Overwatch team is currently the best.
