The International Olympic Committee announced the first Olympic Esports Week (OEW) last November. The Olympic Esports Week is being held in Singapore in June 2023. It is a step to support the development of esports as part of the Olympic Movement and thus engage with a greater competitive gaming community.
The event has been organized by Ministry of Culture, Community and Youth, Sport Singapore, and the Singapore National Olympic Council (SNOC). It is a three-day festival running between 23rd to 25th June 2023. Day 2 of the Olympic Esports Week will be held on 24th June 2023. The event kicked-off after a grand opening ceremony on 23rd June. It was a grand affair using innovative technologies bringing together the physical and virtual worlds.
