North American and CIS regions in the Main PGL Major Krakow 2017 Qualifiers

PGL Major Krakow 2017

Last night was the night when two regions, North America and CIS decided on which teams will be participating in the main qualifiers for the PGL Major Krakow. The event will take place very soon.

Only four teams had the opportunity to secure their positions in the main qualifiers. Now, with these four teams being revealed, there are only three places left to fill in the main qualifiers. All three of these remaining spots will be filled with teams from Europe.

Before the qualifications in North America and CIS region, there were nine teams that were automatically in the main qualifiers for this Counter-Strike: Global Offensive major. Those nine teams were GODSENT, OpTic, TyLoo, HellRaisers, G2 eSports, Mousesports, Renegades, Team Liquid, and FlipSid3.

PGL Major Krakow: North America

Last night, the American Minor Championship came to an end. The final match of the competition saw North American Cloud9 going against Immortals from South America. The winner of that match would secure their place in the main qualifiers for the next Major in Krakow as well as $30,000. In the end, it was Cloud9 who took the win and the money that we mentioned already.

Even though Immortals were defeated in the final match, they can still be considered to be the winners. They won $15,000 and a place in the main qualifiers for the next big Major tournament. In the final match, both teams managed to win in one map. This took the match into the decisive third map. In the end, it was Cloud9 who celebrated as they displayed very good performance in the third game. Immortals were not ready for this and they did not have a real response prepared.

The most impressive feature of the game that Cloud9 displayed in the final was their defense. According to many experts, it was their defensive strategy that brought the win in this match and the place in the PGL Krakow Major 2017 qualifiers.

PGL Major Krakow: CIS Region

At the same time and in the other part of the world, teams from the CIS region were playing the CIS Minor. This event determined the two teams that will be playing in the main qualifiers for the Krakow Major. Eight teams participated in this minor tournament in total. After the competition in the winner brackets, it was Vega Squadron that secured their spot in the finals of the competition where they faced Tengri.

These teams already played before the final and Vega Squadron won. However, in the finals it was a different story. Tengri dominated the match and won the title at this tournament. With that win, Tengri became the first CIS team that secured the spot in the main qualifiers.

The second team from CIS that will be playing in the qualifiers for Krakow 2017 was determined after the match between Vega Squadron and pro100. In that match, Vega Squadron also struggled a lot, but unlike against Tengri, they managed to maintain control in the third game. This brought them the critical win in that game and the place in the main qualifications for the next major.
