The Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Professional League Indonesia Season 12 (MPL ID Season 12 Playoffs) will be kicking off with six teams battling it for the top spot. This is an exciting time for Mobile Legends fans as the tournament season brings with it excitement and some pretty big prize pools. The matches are a big deal for the six teams as they can become the best Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Professionals in the country and have a chance to fight for the world title. Along with the winning title, the champion and runner-up will qualify for the regional slots in the upcoming M5 World Championship which will be held in later this year in the Philippines. Up for grabs is the lion’s share of the $336,500 prize pool which will go to the winner.
MPL ID Season 12 Qualifying Round Recap
After eight weeks of awesome action, ONIC Esports climbed to the top spot out of the nine-teams that were left. ONIC Esports also has the MLBB Southeast Asia Cup 2023 champion title under their belt. Also known as Yellow Hedgehogs, ONIC Esports are on their way to win their third consecutive title in the league. Although, it won’t be an easy fight as they will face tough competition from fellow participants Rebellion Zion, Geek Fam, RRQ, Bigetron Alpha, and Dewa United Esports, who have all qualified to be in the playoffs.
However, EVOS Legends who were last season’s runner-up and Alter-Ego who were placed third, didn’t make it to the playoffs. AURA Fire is the other notable team that won’t be progressing to the next round.
MPL ID Season 12 Playoffs Format
Since there have been no notable changes to the playoffs format this year, Season 12 will follow a similar playoff format to past seasons. Which means that there will be a hybrid elimination format that will be used to determine which teams move on to the next round.
First is the single-elimination round where the third to sixth teams will battle it out. The two teams that win this round will move on to the next round. The second round will have a double elimination format where the winner will move on to the semi-finals.
The top two teams from the season which are ONIC Esports and RRQ will begin in the upper bracket for the semi-finals. Apart from the grand final which will have a best of seven series, the rest of the matches have the best-of-five series.
