Madhya Pradesh To Launch India’s First Esports Academy; All You Need To Know
The Indian state of Madhya Pradesh is creating a massive milestone. The Madhya Pradesh state government recently announced that they would soon be establishing an esports academy. The new esports academy will be spearheaded by the state’s sports department. This is a first of its kind academy that will primarily focus on providing a state platform for young and aspiring esports players. It will also help them enhance their online gaming skills.
The country’s esports industry has seen some noteworthy growth in the past few years. Online gaming titles like Battlegrounds Mobile India (BGMI), Free Fire and Valorant attract several Indian players. This has led to more number of organisations considering investing in the selector.

Madhya Pradesh state government understood the potential of esports and it won’t be long till we see the Indian government too take keen interest in the sector by implementing several measures and initiatives to protect the industry’s privacy and security. This includes its recent move of regulating BGMI and levying a tax on real money gaming.
Madhya Pradesh Esports Academy
As per reports, Madhya Pradesh’s esports academy will give young gamers the opportunity to polish their skills and participate at more professional levels. The state’s Minister of Sports and Youth Welfare Yashodhara Raje Scindia expressed her excitement for the esports Academy, saying that it will play a crucial role in promoting both traditional and advanced sports. She further added that “Madhya Pradesh has become a sports hub. The objective behind launching the Esports Academy is to promote all such sports that have a presence in the Asian Games and Olympics”.
In order to kickstart this initiative, the sports department of Madhya Pradesh will conduct a talent hunt program that will specifically target esports enthusiasts between the ages of 12 and 17 years. Furthermore, the program will coincide with the MP State Junior Esports Championship. This will be a 10-day tournament wherein young players get the opportunity to participate and show their gaming skills.
The new academy will be a platform for young talent, which will promote esports titles that are featured in major international events including the Asian Games and the Olympics.
With esports being included as a medal sport in the Asian Games 2022 as well as a pilot event for the Commonwealth Games 2022, the importance of popularity of esports is further rising. The government’s support as well as the industry’s rapid growth, the Esports Academy in Madhya Pradesh will look forward revolutionize the online gaming space and the position of India in the global esports community.
