League Of Legends NLC July 2023: All You Need To Know

1 years ago By AI Smith

The Northern League of Legends Champion (NLC) has been announced by Riot Games, designed exclusively for players in northern European countries such as Sweden, Denmark, Norway, Finland, and the UK/Ireland. This new competitive schedule introduces a revamped tournament structure specifically tailored for the region.

With this fresh update, the player community has expressed some uncertainties as it deviates from the previous setup. To address these concerns, we have compiled all the essential information about the NLC, providing players with a comprehensive guide to navigating the new MOBA competitive landscape.

A Comprehensive Overview of League of Legends NLC

As previously mentioned, the NLC is a localized league catering to five key market locations, each having its own national tournaments. To assist aspiring participants, we’ve compiled crucial starting dates for sign-ups in each region:

  • Sweden and Norway: Sign-ups begin on July 18, 2023.
  • Finland and Denmark: Sign-ups open on July 19, 2023.
  • UK and Ireland: Sign-ups commence on July 31, 2023.

The NLC will feature two seasons per year for every national league, comprising seven divisions. Here are the team slots and first split dates for each region:

  • Sweden League: 8-16 teams, running from August 20 to October 1, 2023.
  • Norway League: 10-40 teams, taking place from August 20 to October 29, 2023.
  • Finland League: 8+ teams, occurring between August 31 and October 10, 2023.
  • UK & Ireland League: 8 teams, commencing from September 18 to November 2, 2023.
  • Denmark League: 10+ teams, scheduled from August 31 to October 10, 2023.

Eligibility and Participation

For a team to be eligible for the NLC, at least three players must hail from the aforementioned sub-regions. The remaining two players can join the league, but they must be selected from the regions specified for the tournament. Failing to meet these criteria will result in the team’s exclusion from the contest.

Additionally, players will have the opportunity to compete against teams from other regions through the LNC Regional Promotion Series (RPS). This exciting feature allows teams from various Division 1 and NLC Ladder regions to face off and showcase their skills on a broader competitive stage.

The Mission and Purpose of League of Legends NLC

The primary goal of the NLC is to foster a safe and inclusive community for players who share a passion for competitive League of Legends. This platform provides an ideal environment for emerging talents to showcase their skills and join the ranks of professional esports in a welcoming and supportive manner. As stated by Will Attwood, the Competitive Experience Manager at Riot Games:

The local system enables players to compete together and encourages a larger community to participate. Through the new NLC system, players can ascend to Division 1, opening doors to further competitive opportunities in the EMEA Masters.

With the introduction of the NLC, Riot Games aims to enhance the competitive landscape for players in northern Europe, providing them with a robust and structured platform to pursue their esports dreams. As players come together in this new chapter of the League of Legends journey, the future of NLC promises excitement, growth, and boundless opportunities for both players and spectators alike.
