Invictus Gaming Receive Their EPICENTER: Moscow Invitations
|
The regional qualifiers for the EPICENTER: Moscow 2017 are under way for the Chinese region. However, with Invictus Gaming being one of the best Dota 2 teams from that region, many were unsure whether or not Invictus Gaming will have to go through the qualifiers to secure their spot at the EPICENTER: Moscow 2017. Looking at this issue from this perspective, it was a touch and go for Invictus Gaming, but in the end, EPICENTER decided that they will be sending the fifth direct invite for the main event to Invictus Gaming.
With Invictus Gaming receiving the direct invite for the main event, that means that this year’s EPICENTER will feature two teams from the Chinese regions. One is IG with the direct invite while the second team will be coming from the regional qualifiers that have already started. This turned out to be a very good news for Invictus Gaming because this invite spared them the troubles of playing in the qualifiers and considering that IG is not in the best form, they might not have won that one spot in the qualifiers for EPICENTER: Moscow 2017. As we have already said, Chinese regional qualifiers for the EPICENTER have already started, and since Invictus Gaming is scheduled to play qualifiers for The Summit 7 that start today, it would be a huge problem for IG if they had to play in two qualifiers at the same time.
Invictus Gaming Vitality Fall Short
However, Invictus Gaming Vitality, the IG’s second squad was not that lucky because as it turned out, they will have to play in qualifiers for both, The Summit 7 and the EPICENTER: Moscow 2017. This issue is even more problematic for iG Vitality after realizing that both tournaments will feature only the winner of the qualifiers at the main event. With the direct invite for the EPICENTER: Moscow 2017, Invictus Gaming will be playing four strong Dota 2 tournaments in a very short period. The first of those four tournaments will be the SL i-League Invitation that will be played in little more than ten days. After that tournament, Invictus Gaming will be heading to Manila, the Philippines where they will be playing at the Manila Masters. After the Manila Masters, things are becoming a bit more complicated for Invictus Gaming as they will have no time for relaxing until after the EPICENTER. Immediately after the Manila Masters, IG will be heading to Taipei, Taiwan where they will be playing at the Zotac Cup. With the end of the Zotac Cup scheduled for June 3rd, Invictus Gaming will have only one day to get to Moscow as EPICENTER: Moscow 2017 is scheduled to start on June 4th with the action in the group stage.
Because of that, Invictus Gaming will not have any room for mistakes in an administrative sense. Otherwise, they will be forced to miss one of the tournaments that we mentioned earlier. With Invictus Gaming receiving the fifth direct invite for the EPICENTER, that leaves only one more invite to be sent out. Looking at the teams that have not received invites we can see that some of the best Dota 2 teams have not been featured yet and some of those teams are Ninjas in Pyjamas, mousesports, and even Digital Chaos. Because of that, all teams will be waiting to see which team will receive the sixth invite for the main event of the EPICENTER: Moscow 2017.
