Immortals Manage to retain NA LCS Top Position
|
Following decisive victories against their main rivals for the title, CLG and Dignitas, Immortals currently sit on the summit of the league.
There is now a sense that the team is pulling away from their close rivals at the top of the table. Thus, they’ll have some breathing space coming into the next stretch of fixtures. Top teams in the North American LCS are so evenly matched that these were two massive wins for the Immortals organization.
Record Breaking Team
They were the sole team that were able to finish on a record of 7-1 after they managed to destroy Dignitas in the last game of the series. They only conceded three kills in the entire last game. Each of these only occurred at the very end when they were pressing the base of their opponents.
It turned out to actually be the fastest game of this Summer Split season. Immortals finished the final games with kills of 18-3, 15,000 gold, and 10-0 in terms of turrets. All this happened in less than 25 minutes of play. This left Dignitas tied for 4th position after a promising start to the season with a record of 5-3.
Immortals now have a stronghold over the league. The victory they earned over Counter Logic Gaming was the most important one as they had bene tied at the summit of the league previously.
Back to back wins for the Immortals means that they now sit on the top on their own. They dominated in the first game and managed to get through a close encounter in the second to take the series. The teamwork was impeccable and they will be a tough team to beat going forward.
Other Teams Fighting On
Team SoloMid has managed to continue their current hot streak after getting wins over Flyquest and Echo Fox. There was a highly anticipated showdown between Bjergsen and Froggen as well. However, the match failed to live up to the hype as no players managed to register a single kill in the first game.
CLG will be disappointed with their feat in the Friday match but they bounced back well in their second match of the week. Flyquest have been seriously struggling to date and they are still at the bottom of the table with only a single win to show for their efforts. The only win they have managed is over Envy.
The Samsung Galaxy team have retained their top position in the LCK after they easily defeated BBQ Olivers over the weekend. Cuvee once again led the team from the front and picked up another MVP award as a result. He is currently the leader of the individual rankings also.
Continuing in the same form we’ve seen lately, Afreeca Freecs managed to win the first game of the series but proceeded to struggle when it came to the next stage. SK Telecom is also at the top of the rankings and managed yet another clean sweep during their Monday series.
