How To Play Wingman In CS2? All You Need To Know

7 months ago By AI Smith

Counter-Strike 2 (CS2) has had an excellent run since its release in September of this year. The game is taking not only the Counter-Strike community by storm but is also making waves in the entire gaming industry. The positive impression that the successor of Counter-Strike: Global Offensive (CS:GO) has had is also further bolstered by the plethora of game modes that are available in to play.

For players who are interested in upping their skills, these game modes are the perfect way to do so. One of these modes is the Wingman, which is loved by many of the Counter-Strike players. However, while CS2 has many readily available modes, the Wingman, unfortunately, is not one of them. On CS2, Wingman mode can only be accessed when unlocked.

Now, many players are curious as to what the Wingman mode is and how they can play it. In order to answer these questions, we have compiled a list to help you. So let’s take a look at all that you need to know about it. So, let’s dive in.

What is Wingman Mode in Counter-Strike 2?

In Counter-Strike 2, the Wingman mode is a mixture of various game modes all wrapped into one. It is not like the classic 5v5 setup that many players love. This means that Wingman mode takes place on a smaller scale and includes only teams of two with two players each. The teams also have only one bomb defusal site. In Wingman mode, one round lasts for 90 seconds which encourages players to make quick decisions and actions. Wingman is also a ranked mode, which makes it one of the most competitive modes in Counter-Strike2.

Valve is known for testing the Counter-Strike community in various aspects like mechanical skills, game sense, and whether they can turn impossible scenarios into wins. This is the purpose of Wingman mode but on a much smaller scale. These modes are not just for players to enjoy but to also test them on their skills and ability to make or follow strategies. With Wingman mode being focused on being a team endeavor, it is also a fantastic way to practice working as a team and win rewards. The name ‘Wingman’ is fitting as the mode includes only teams of two and requires two people to help one another acting like ‘wingmen’ to back each other up.

The mode also serves as an excellent warm-up mode that is perfect for players to ease into the game by improving their skills. It’s no wonder why this mode is so beloved among players as it doesn’t require many people to start playing. All you need is a few friends and you’re good to go.

How to play Wingman in Counter-Strike 2?

While Wingman is a mini mode, it packs quite a punch. As we have mentioned before, Wingman is not a readily available mode and will have to be unlocked by players to access it. In order to unlock the mode, players will have to play around eight matches in casual matchmaking and deathmatch modes each. Every match that you play, will grant you experience points which will fill a bar that can be found below the Wingman mode. This visual icon will help players understand when the mode will become accessible to the players.

Wingman mode allows you to play with friends or even solo it out. It is one of the most exciting modes that are available in the game and one that rewards players with shaper skills. Players can even compare their 5v5 competitive matches to your performance in the Wingman mode. With the help of this mode, players will be able to quickly identify their strengths and weaknesses and work on them. This will further help them perform to the best of their ability in full team modes.

Top Tips for Wingman Mode in Counter-Strike 2

If you’re looking forward to playing on Wingman mode, here are some of the best tips that will help you make your time in the mode even more enjoyable. Here are the tips:

  1. Utility – Players need to stock up on their utility. This means buying as many flashbangs and grenades as they can in a round. As the map in these modes is small, players will be able to use their grenades more efficiently without worrying about throwing and landing an unfavorable one for their partner on the other side of the ground.
  2. Economy – Players will also be able to quickly turn consecutive wins if they are able to manage their money properly. Make sure to coordinate with your team members and that you two are on the same page. Even if this means sacrificing a round so that the players will be able to commit to a full buy in the next round.
  3. Motivation – Don’t lose hope, even if it feels like you’re not leading right away. The Wingman maps in CS2 are CT-Sided so players shouldn’t lose hope even if they lose 7 out of 8 rounds. You will get the chance to up your advantage once you switch to the Counter-Terrorist side.
  4. Kill Trade – Don’t leave your team mate to hang dry and always make sure to cover them. Since there are only two on one team, the match can easily become 2 vs 1 if either side kills an opponent. In one way, it is a good strategy to do so when playing to gain an advantage. It is also why you need to back up your teammate in a gunfight so that the playing field remains balanced.
  5. Flanks – Never be afraid to try something new as it can help catch your enemies offguard and win you the round. One thing you can try is flanking out of the bomb site so that you can backstab the enemy team. This is a great way to secure the round easily. However, be careful not to repeat this strategy as it will alert your enemy to your plan. So don’t use it too often.

With all this information, you can now confidently head to Counter-Strike 2 to unlock and play the Wingman mode. Stay tuned for more such content on gaming.
