Good News for Mindfreak Owner ahead of the Call of Duty Championship 2017

A couple of days ago, we wrote about the situation in which Mindfreak eSports organization has found themselves in. Currently, this organization is hosting two Call of Duty teams, Mindfreak and Mindfreak Black. When it comes to Call of Duty Championship 2017, Mindfreak has already secured their place there. However, with the end of the North American Last Chance Qualifiers for that competition, it has become clear that Mindfreak Black will also be participating in the same tournament.

Not that long ago, sister teams of some of the biggest eSports organization have been under scrutiny. They were not allowed to participate in the competitions in which they won their place. In those cases, organizers stated that if that was  allowed, they would be facing a potential conflict of interest. This is clearly something they’d prefer to avoid.

Unexpected Decision

Currently, Activision is the leading authority in the world for Call of Duty competitions. This case was brought to them so that they could decide whether or not Mindfreak’s second team would be allowed to participate in the Call of Duty Championship 2017. Knowing how Activision’s counterparts in other eSports competitions reacted to this issue, everyone expected that Mindfreak would have to sell one of those spots in the event.

It did not take long for Activision to reach the decision about this issue. With one solution standing out as the most accepted by eSports entities, Activision decided to take a different road. This surprised everyone, including Mindfreak owner, Albert ‘Naked’ Nassif.

In their statement about this problem, Activision has indicated that they are familiar with the situation. They explained they have looked at the both sides of this story. In the end, they reached a decision that will allow Mindfreak to have two teams owned by the same person in the Main Event of the Call of Duty Championship.

Ready for Anything

When Mindfreak Black won the North American Last Chance Qualifiers, Naked made a statement pointing out this problem. He also said that he was ready to accept whatever Activision decides. At that time, he was even ready to talk about selling one of the teams. The sale would include the spot in one of the biggest Call of Duty competitions this season.

At that time, Naked said that he is ready to talk about the issue. However, he emphasized that potential owners need to have in mind that they have put a lot of effort, time, and financial means into building up two teams that would be able to compete at the international level. Besides that, he also said that they want to provide their players with the best possible options. Ff Activision forbids them from participating, they would take some time to find the adequate solution.

Luckily for Naked and his teams, Activision did not reach the same decision like some other big eSports companies in the industry. This means that Mindfreak and Mindfreak Black will have the opportunity to win the title as well as to play against each other at some point in the competition.
