Gamer And Youtuber Ishowspeed Visits India, Enjoys In The Street Of Mumbai

Popular YouTuber and livestreamer Darren Watkins Jr aka ‘IShowSpeed’ has landed in India, which has excited many of his fans in the country. According to Watkins Jr, the reason for his visit to the country is to show his support for his favourite cricketer Virat Kohli. This is ahead of the India vs Pakistan match on Saturday, 14th October 2023 for the ICC Men’s ODI World Cup 2023. Also known as Christiano Ronaldo’s biggest fan, ‘IShowSpeed’ is here to experience the cricket craze in the country and has left the internet in a frenzy.

Coming from Ohio state in USA, the 18-year old has already started streaming his adventures on the busy streets of Mumbai. He is accompanied by his cameraman and manager, Slipz. Watkins Jr’s YouTube channel has a huge fan base of 20 million subscribers and his arrival to Mumbai, India has been met with great enthusiasm from his Indian fans.

A Lovely Indian Welcome

Clearly, ‘IShowSpeed’s arrival in India has not gone unnoticed by fans who were quick to express their excitement at his visit to the country. Among the many social media posts, that showed their enthusiasm, one fan even expressed that Speed is now basically a certified Indian with his love for Kohli.

Already ‘IShowSpeed’ has been spotted traveling on the bustling streets of Mumbai, being followed on bikes by his fans and many after him for pictures, and autographs. His itinerary in the country is sure to include going to the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, where the India vs Pakistan match is set to take place.

IShowSpeed’s Love For Cricket and Virat Kohli

The internet sensation has been a huge fan of cricketer Virat Kholi which stems from his genuine love for Indian cricket. His admiration for Kohli is what brought him to the sub-continent where he is eager to see him play live at the upcoming India vs Pakistan match. Once he landed, ‘IShowSpeed’ wasted no time in immersing himself in the Indian culture.

On one of his livestreams from Mumbai, he can be seen sporting the blue Indian cricket jersey with Kohli’s name. He was even seen swinging a cricket bat as he tried his had at the sport. Even though he may not be as intensely knowledgeable in cricket, his mere enthusiasm for it proves that he genuinely loves the sport. With his love for Kohli, ‘IShowSpeed’ also has an objective to meet his favourite cricketer by flying to Delhi.

Potential Collabs

While ‘IShowSpeed’ is here to enjoy his visit to India and the upcoming cricket match, his arrival may now open up some exciting future collaborations with notable Indian stars. Renowned Bollywood singer from the 90s and early 2000s, Daler Mehndi, has also extended an invitation to the YouTuber for a collaboration. This should come as no surprise, as one of Mehndi’s popular songs called ‘Tunak Tunak’ has been featured on ‘IShowSpeed’ YouTube channel.

Another Indian personality, Emiway Bantai, who is one of the most well-known Indian rappers even spoke with the streamer back in March 2023. It was during this brief FaceTime conversation, that the two touched on a possible collaboration if the streamer ever came to India.

Who is ‘IShowSpeed’?

Even though he is a famous internet personality, it is possible that there are still some out there who are curious as to who he is. So, we’re here to give you a  little lowdown about who ‘IShowSpeed’ is and why he’s making so many waves with his presence in the country.

Born on 21st January 2005, Darren Jason Watkins Jr. aka ‘IShowSpeed’ is an American YouTuber, streamer, and rapper. He is also just known as ‘Speed.’ He mostly well-known for his live-streams where he plays video games like Roblox, FIFA, Fortnite, and Minecraft. He started his now famous YouTube channel called ‘IShowSpeed’ in 2017 and started uploading mostly gaming content.

He began to gain popularity around 2021 – 2022 through clips from his hilariously reactions on his livestreams. In 2022, he was awarded as the ‘Breakout Streamer of the Year’ at the 12th Streamy Awards. He is also known for his love for the long-running anime-manga series ‘One Piece’ and for being one of Christiano Ronaldo’s biggest fan. He eventually met his idol in person in 2023, which also created big waves in the internet.

With regards to his music career, Watkins released his first single titled ‘Dooty Booty’ on his YouTube channel in August 2021 which quickly gained virality on platforms like YouTube and TikTok. Another single titled, ‘Shake’ was released by Watkins on November 2021. To express his admiration for Christiano Ronaldo, he also released a song titled ‘Ronaldo (Sewey)’  in June 2022. In November 2022, he released the ‘World Cup’ song under the Warner Records in honour of the FIFA World Cup in 2022.
