Fixtures for Group Stage of OGN Overwatch APEX Season 3 Announced

Overwatch APEX Season 3

The organizers of the OGN Overwatch APEX Season 3 have revealed the groups for the first stage of this competition. From the quick glance at those groups, we can see that there will be very interesting matches even in the first round of the group stage.

This year’s OGN Overwatch APEX is slightly different than the tournaments from the previous years because this year’s edition is featuring only two international teams. In the previous years, that number was much higher. Other 14 teams in this tournament are coming from South Korea.

Exciting Matches During Group Stage

The first team that received the invitation for the Main Event of this tournament was Rogue who immediately accepted the invitation. In the group stage of this competition they will be playing in Group A. Beside them, that group will feature Mighty AOD, KonDoo P, and Lunatic Hai.

As soon as these groups were revealed it became clear that the Group A will be the death group of this competition. Lunatic Hai are currently one of the best Overwatch teams in the world and Rogue are not that far behind. Because of that, their match in the group stage will be perhaps the most interesting match of the entire event.

The Group B of this tournament will feature RunAway, Afreecs B, KD Uncia, and X6-Gaming. RunAway might be the biggest favorite for the first place in this group. However, they will not be unchallenged because the other teams from this group will also be doing all they can for to secure one of the first two positions.

The Group C will feature the likes of LW BLUE, CONBOX S, Flash Lux, and MVP Space, and it will be the group in which all teams might have the same chances of finishing in top two. Because of that, we should also pay a lot of attention to the matches in this group.

ENVyUS Strong Favorites in Group D

The second international team that received a direct invitation for the Main Event of this tournament was Team EnVyUs. Initially, there were speculations that due to the previously arranged events, Team EnVyUs would not be able to participate in this event. However, after a couple of days, it was confirmed that Team EnVyUs would actually be competing at APEX.

At this tournament, Team EnVyUs will play in Group D together with MetaAthena, RGW, and BK Stars. Considering other teams in this group, Team EnVyUs should not have major problems with finishing the group stage in the first two positions. However, with all the teams looking to perform at their peak, nothing is guaranteed.

The second invite for this tournament was a controversial issue because it was rumored that team Rogue and NRG will be receiving those invites. Nobody had problems with Rogue receiving the first invitation, but the biggest issue was the second invitation and the possibility that NRG becomes the second invited team. The biggest issue with NRG and the second invite was the fact that NRG has not played a single competitive match in more than four months. However, in the end, it was Team EnVyUs that received the second invite, ending the controversies.
