Final Fantasy XVI dethrones from the top spot, 90% of sale drop
The numbers of the Final Fantasy XVI had a very remarkable first week, but in the second-week things have not gone so well for the game in Japan on physical support. As per reports, and we have been able to see in the Famitsu report, the demand in traditional stores for the new instalment of the saga has collapsed, to such an extent that the RPG is no longer the best-selling video game on the market.
The game sold 336,027 copies in its opening weekend in Japan. However, in the most recent period, this figure fell by 90%, to 37,763 units, always according to estimated data reported by Famitsu for FINAL FANTASY XVI. The crash attracts attention, but it is already a regular in the franchise. Thus, Final Fantasy XV and Final Fantasy VII: Remake have already suffered similar percentage drops.
Hideki Yasuda, an analyst at Toyo Securities, told Bloomberg that he does not expect the situation to change in the short term without a price cut. The decline has been so pronounced with FF XVI that it has lost first place in the top 10 best-selling video games for the last week.

Our opinion of Final Fantasy XVI
“At the moment of truth, the good is what ends up weighing the most and that is what we have been left with,” we counted in the analysis. “When the adventure gets serious, it rises to the level of the best and reaches such a level that we momentarily forget about its imperfections, allowing us to be carried away by a spectacular journey like few others that will not leave anyone indifferent.
If this It’s what you’re looking for and you don’t care about the change of direction that this instalment represents for the series, don’t hesitate to give it a try”. Do not miss our complete guide to squeezing the world of Valisthea.

What does this mean for Final Fantasy XVI? In the first instance, and as we talked about last week, the Japanese RPG faces a park of consoles smaller than PlayStation 4 and an exclusive launch on PS5. There is still a lot to decide, especially considering that Diablo 4 and Street Fighter 6 have been released close in time, but it does not mean that we are not talking about a significant downturn.
