FaZe Clan finally managed to do it! They finally became champions, but they had to pull off one of the best games ever in order to achieve that kind of results. The StarLadder i-LEAGUE StarSeries Season 3 was a $300,000 worth tournament, and it is no wonder that all the best Counter-Strike: Global Offensive eSports teams were participating at this event. In the end, it was all left to FaZe Clan and Astralis who faced each other for the first place in the grand finals. Many expected a very good match, and they were right. It was one of the best matches in the last couple of months that we have seen in the CS:GO scene.
The opening of the match was very good for FaZe Clan because they managed to win the first map, Mirage. At the end of the first half, FaZe Clan had the advantage of 8-7, but that was not enough for them to relax until the end of the first map. Then, the pistol round came, and since FaZe Clan has already won 12 pistol rounds at this tournament, it became clear that FaZe Clan will also have an advantage in that aspect as well. In the end, FaZe Clan managed to win that pistol round, and that made them a record holder in the number of consecutive pistol round wins.
However, as the match was moving on, Astralis gained traction more and more, and they managed to win in the next couple of rounds. Those wins were mostly result of the inspired play of Nicolai ‘device’ Reedtz, and eventually, Astralis managed to win the Mirage map with the result 16-14. However, FaZe Clan recovered very quickly and they were able to win the next map, Nuke, in which Astralis managed to win in only six rounds. Consequently, the final match of the StarLadder i-LEAGUE StarSeries Season 3 went to the third and decided map.
FaZe Clan Puts On A Brilliant Show
The opening of the third round was very good for Astralis because they were able to gain 10-5 advantage mostly thanks to Markus ‘Kjyerbye’ Kjyaerbye who prevented FaZe Clan from planting the bomb and the first half of the third map finished with Astralis having the advantage. However, Astralis could not bring that map to a succesful end, and FaZe Clan managed to come back, and the third map went to overtime. After several rounds that were traded between two teams, FaZe Clan grabbed the victory, and in that way, they won their first CS:GO title ever.
A couple of weeks ago, FaZe Clan obtained services from Nikola ‘NiKo’ Kova%u010D who is one of the best Counter-Strike: Global Offensive players in the world currently. The Bosnian player previously played for mousesports but he did not win any titles in that team. However, as soon as he moved to FaZe Clan, he and his new team placed second at the Major in Katowice and couple of weeks after that, they won the title at the tournament in Kiev. All of this is proving that signing NiKo was a very good move and that it will pay off even more in the future.
