One of the most interesting tournaments of the Counter-Strike: Global Offensive season this year will be DreamHack Summer 2017. This tournament will not be the biggest event, it will not feature all the best CS:GO teams, nor it will have the biggest prize pool. However, DreamHack Summer 2017 will feature very good Counter-Strike: Global Offensive competition as well as a lot of additional content and events that will be taking place in Jonkoping, Sweden at the same time.
Just Two More Direct Spots Remaining for DreamHack Summer 2017
DreamHack 2017 will feature six teams that will get the direct invites for the Main Event. The remaining two spots in the Main Event will be filled by two teams to successfully find their way through the qualifiers.
So far, DreamHack has announced two teams that received direct invites for the Main Event. Those teams are Gambit eSports and SK Gaming. More importantly, both teams have confirmed that they will be participating in this tournament.
Just recently, DreamHack 2017 has announced two additional teams that have received direct invitations for the Main Event. Those are Fnatic and Mousesports. After announcing two new teams, there are only two spots left to be announced as the teams that will get to compete for the prestigious title.
Fnatic Seeking a Redeeming Opportunity
It was a long time ago when Fnatic last participated at a LAN tournament. Hence, it will be interesting to see how they will handle the circumstances they aren’t used to. The last time when they played LAN matches was at the StarLadder i-League StarSeries Season Three. At this occasion, they managed to reach the quarter-finals where they lost to Natus Vincere.
It seems that that the defeat affected the team Fnatic quite adversely, as they finished the tournament in the 5th-8th place. This was very disappointing for them especially after their performances in the first stage of the competition. However, with Fnatic being a Swedish team, they’ll have the opportunity to play in front of the home audience this time around. There is no doubt this will be additional motivation for them to perform very well at DreamHack Summer 2017.
On the other hand, Mousesports is having a very good period. It started immediately after they signed Tomas ‘oskar’ Stastny. Recently, Mousesports managed to finish in the third place at the DreamHack ASTRO Open: Tours 2017. Besides that, they also secured the LAN Finals of the Season Five of the ESL Pro League. However, they are not the only team that did so as Fnatic was also able to claim their spot at that tournament. This year, Mousesports have much better win/loss ratio than some other teams such as Team EnVyUs, Fnatic, and Na’Vi.
With Fnatic and Mousesports receiving invites for the Main Event there are only four places left. Two will be direct invitees while two places will go to the teams that go through the qualifiers. One of the spots will go to the winner of the European qualifiers while the second spots will belong to the winner of the North American qualifiers.
