Coca-Cola launches a League of Legends drink that “tastes like experience points”
The expansion of League of Legends over the last few years is more than evident. With Arcane at the forefront as a television series, new video games and collaborations with brands have also become a constant. However, few things prepared us for what is one of Riot Games’ most unexpected adventures. The MOBA developer company has decided to partner with Coca-Cola for the launch of a new soft drink. This is “Coca-Cola Ultimate”, a limited edition that comes with one of the strangest premises we’ve seen lately: they promise that “it tastes like additional experience points”.
A collaboration with a long past
The truth is that the collaboration between Coca-Cola(KO) and Riot Games may surprise you, but both brands have a long history of business relationships. The popular soft drink was one of the main sponsors of League of Legends competitions during its early years. Other games developed by the company, such as Wild Rift, have also entered into agreements of a similar nature. In addition, and although not so directly, other brands of soft drinks have already sought this type of promotion. Monster, for example, has collaborated with Call of Duty, Halo Infinite, and Apex Legends in the past.
The main problem with this promotion, which is part of an initiative that brought us a Rosalía Coca-Cola just a few months ago, is that it may not be available in India. Although the country is one of the countries that processes the most devotion to Riot Games video games, until now there is no mention that it is available in the region.
If you are in Mexico, the United States, Canada, China, South Korea, Latin America and Africa. The drink will be available in the USA and Canada from 12 June for a limited time. Looking at the complete list, the absence of Europeans surprises even more than that supposed flavor of additional experience points.
What does “+XP” taste like?
In addition to the refreshment, it has been announced that there will be new missions in the game that will allow us to unlock new emoticons. It is not clear if these will reach the League of Legends as there is no country participating in the campaign, at least for now. Players will also be able to find in the cans a QR Code with the so-called “Ultimate Emoji Generator”, which is a filter that modifies the photos to give them an effect similar to that of LoL emoticons.
