Can You Play Counter-Strike 2 On Console? All You Need To Know

1 years ago By AI Smith

Six months ago, out of nowhere, Valve announced its next-gen tactical FPS game Counter-Strike 2. The game has been in beta testing since the surprise announcement and now, on September 27, the game has been released for everyone. Yes, CS2 is now available for all fans, and it’s ready to take the world of esports by storm once again. With the official release, we’ve learned the official system conditions for CS2, along with all the new features. Here’s everything you need to know.

Valve ReleasesCounter-Strike 2; Free to Play

After a long- teased ‘ Summer 2023 ’ release window, Valve has eventually made its fans happy by releasing Counter-Strike 2. The new CS2 game is supported by the Source 2 machine with several new gameplay changes and features. The smoke grenades are relatively dynamic now, the lighting system has been revamped, the UI is slightly different, the reflections look better, and the gameplay feels fully real. We’ve talked about all the new features in Counter-Strike 2.

You can download Counter-Strike 2 from the Steam Store. Players have been playing CS2 beta for a long time, and have been saying that counter Strike 2 feels different from its precursor, CS:GO. Also,Counter-Strike 2 has taken cues from its rival, Valorant, and brought other major advancements in the game. There are several discussions and blogs about how the new features CS2 seems to have espoused from Valorant.

Also, Valve has verified that all CSGO items will move to Counter-Strike 2 with this release. The skins look indeed more beautiful now, thanks to Source 2’s graphic overhaul. CS2 eventually brings forward the inventor’s vision for the coming generation of its tactical shooter in the Counter-Strike series. But what happens to CSGO after the CS2 release?

To run Counter-Strike 2, Valve has officially revealed the minimal system conditions, which we’ve listed below. The game is surely heavier compared to CSGO. Likewise, CS2 has only been released for Windows PCs, with no information on the Mac release right now. That said, check out the PC system conditions here:

ComponentMinimum System Requirements
Processor (CPU)Intel Core i5 750 or higher / Four Threaded CPU
Graphics (GPU)GPU supporting DirectX11, 1GB VRAM, Shader Model 5.0
Memory (RAM)8GB RAM
Storage Space85 GB
Operating Systemat least Windows 10

There’s a small chance that we will see a macOS interpretation in the future. The former game, CSGO, did have a macOS interpretation and it indeed ran on the new ARM- grounded M1/ M2 armature on Mac computers through the Rosetta ARM to x86 restatement subcaste.

Rumors of an implicit Counter-Strike 2 console version have been circulating, with numerous players wondering if the game will make its way over to Xbox and PS5.

While there are maybe very few FPS titles more PC- oriented than Counter-Strike, CSGO did of course admit a console version in the past – which birthed the radial buy menu that became a rather iconic aspect of the game.

We have got everything you need to know if you were wondering if Counter-Strike 2 is coming to console below, so make sure to read on to see all of the rearmost details.

There has been nothing explicitly verified regarding a console release for Counter-Strike 2 yet, but there have been some rumors circulating that feel to point towards it being a real thing. The biggest suggestion so far seems to be from an inadequately hidden hint by nalyst, host, and commentator Chad “Spunj” Birchill, who mouthed the word ‘console’ on stream when discussing something he’s apparently not allowed to talk about.

This could of course just be assumption or in the early stages, but it does feel to point towards something that numerous people were formerly thinking.

Still, the recent change to the buy menu could maybe indicate that we’re presently less likely to get a console version of Counter-Strike 2. As mentioned, the radial buy menu that came rather iconic in CSGO has been replaced by a tile-based menu menu analogous to games like VALORANT.

While this isn’t a guarantee that the game will not be coming to console now, the fact that the radial menu was designed with console in mind could maybe indicate that they aren’t allowing that as a possibility presently when the occasion to redesign arose in the Limited Test.

Still, it’ll probably be a while after the game releases completely on Steam, If we do ultimately see a release of Counter-Strike 2 on console. PC is really Valve’s primary focus with Counter-Strike, and any console performances would probably only arrive once the PC interpretation has settled.

It’s also likely that some features will be neglected from the console interpretation purely due to regulator conditions similar to what Ubisoft had to do with Rainbow Six Siege.
