Blizzard is a major and ever-growing eSports organizations which recently revealed that it will have a new home very soon. The game developer announced their plans for a huge eSports arena located in Los Angeles. The arena is officially named Blizzard Arena Los Angeles. This new space will be situated at the TV production facility known as Burbank Studios, and it is expected to be open at the beginning of next month.
Blizzard was glad to inform fans that the new facility has been custom-tailored in order to support numerous live-events which will be held here. The new Los Angeles arena will feature huge stages for the broadcast and local audience. In addition to the stage for esports competition, the facility will also feature several sound stages, areas for practice, multiple sound stages and of course, a store where the visitors will be able to buy unique Blizzard merchandise.
450 Spectators Capacity
Blizzard also announced that the organization’s new eSports arena will have a capacity of 450 spectators. However, that number will vary depending on the event. We are looking forward to seeing the space as soon as it is completed since Blizzard keeps it a secret until the facility is ready to be opened and introduced to the audience. It is an amazing opportunity for the Los Angeles eSports community since the city is getting a renovated destination for major video game competitions.
Like we already mentioned, new Blizzard’s facility is a part of an outstanding studio, and the fans are more than thrilled since the facility will be open and ready to host major competitions on 7th of October. It will open to the public with the new season Overwatch Contenders Season One stage Playoffs. This approximate capacity of 450 specators will most certainly be enough for hosting a major Blizzard Championships for games like Heroes of the Storm and Hearthstone. It is also expected to see the venue as a host for the Los Angeles-based Overwatch League.
Blizzar Acquires Major League Gaming
The venue will most certainly be a hot spot for the eSports community and it is expected to see not only Los Angeles, but a worldwide audience. You may be familiar with the fact that Activision Blizzard acquired pioneers Major League Gaming to be a part of recently formed Media Networks Division. The Starcraft and World of Warcraft developers have hired other sports industries execs in order to move closer to their ultimate goal of creating the major ESPN event of eSports. By all accounts, the organization is on the right track, especially with its newly renovated Los Angeles facility.
Blizzard is most certainly in an absolutely unique position to benefit when it comes to the recent growth of the eSports industry. It is reported that a franchise spot in the Los Angeles-based Overwatch league is worth $2 million to $5 million when it comes to the tertiary markets. When it comes to the major market, a franchise spot is worth around $30 million. It is more than apparent that the organization knows how to deal with challenges as well as how to attract the audience.
In the end, we are looking forward to BlizzCon, Blizzard’s flagship event which will take place in Anaheim on 3rd of November.
