Baldur’s Gate 3: How To Get To The Adamantine Forge And Use It For loot? – Location

1 years ago By AI Smith

During your adventure in Baldur’s Gate 3, you can visit many locations, but one that stands out considering its value and usefulness is the Adamantine Forge. A place where you can obtain very good weapons and armour for your team that will help you in your travels and battles. In this entry of our guide, we want to help you find the Adamantine Forge and get to it since it is not something easy, we will also show you the steps to follow to be able to use it, the objects and materials you need to be able to forge equipment and how to face a dangerous boss: Grym, the Eternal Protector of the forge.

Where is the Adamantine Forge?

The Adamantine Forge in Baldur’s Gate 3 is a special location where you can forge weapons and armour and is located in the Grymforge area in the Underdark (see attached link for how to travel to the Underdark from four hidden entrances).

You can reach the Adamantine Forge shortly before ending Act 1 of the story, after deciding whether to support the Myconid Colony or the Druegars in the Underdark. Once you take the ship on the Underdark beach and enter Grymforge, you can place the Adamantine Forge on your map in the south of this area, just where we point out in the following image:

Now, reaching the Adamantine Forge is not as simple as heading towards the area that we indicated. First, you will have to follow certain paths.

Once you are in Grymforge, to reach the Adamantine Forge start from the beginning of the area by going up the first stairs and then heading towards the northwest corner of the area. At the end of this corridor, you will come across some Druegars and some Rothé who are in front of a cave-in.

There are several ways to go about this, but probably the best is to use treat with animals to convince the rothé to attack the dwarves (they will eventually attack you no matter what you do, so you can kill them more easily with help). of the creatures). Once you’ve got it out of your way, talk to the Rothé again to ask them to move the rubble out of the way.

The animals will burst the stone wall and you can proceed through this area to a passage where there are numerous traps. Be careful here. We recommend that you separate your group and, with only one character, disarm the traps so as not to make them jump. Your goal is some ladders that are in the middle of this passage. Use them to descend to a platform where there are a pair of levers like the ones you see in this image:

These levers control a kind of crane with chains that hang from the ceiling. Here, again separating your group, have three of your characters get on the crane. With the remaining character move the levers in such a way that at least one of your heroes can jump to the catwalk in the center.

Another of your characters has to jump to the opposite side of the area to proceed south from there. Going south you will find another two levers on some broken stairs that control another crane.

The character on the middle walkway must get on this second crane to cross over to the back walkway. From that last walkway, you will be able to jump to a platform below, on the other side of the lava, which connects to the ancient forge waypoint. Now that you’ve unlocked this waypoint, it’s as simple as fast travelling to it with all of your characters, then you’ll reunite the party and head down a hill towards the forge (although be careful as there may be some threats around it).

Materials needed to use the Adamantine Forge

After reaching the Adamantine Forge not all the work will be done yet. To use it you need some resources and objects that are around Grymforge. Specifically, the forge works with mithril ore and moulds. You can get up to two mithril ores in Grymforge from a pair of mithril veins. You’ll recognize them because they are large, glowing rock formations, like this one below:

You have to hit these veins with bludgeoning damage, such as using a hammer, to break it and thus collect the mithril ore. You will find one going down a path that descends towards the lava of the forge, and another one on the side of the main slope that goes towards the forge.

Where to get the moulds for forging?

In the case of the moulds you need for forging, these are the items that allow you to forge a weapon or armour piece combined with mithril ore.

In total, you can find up to 6 types of moulds in Grymforge and they are the following:

Longsword Mold – Found on the central walkway that you jump onto on the way to the forge, after using the first two levers in the trap area.

Shield Mold – It is behind some locked double doors near the pier.

Scimitar Mold – It is on a corpse next to the two levers above the broken stairs.

Mace Mold – It is on a table next to the Ancient Forge waypoint.

Armour Mold – Go up the stairs to the left of the Ancient Forge waypoint and you will see it next to a corpse and some gears.

Scale Mail Mold – It is to the right of the Ancient Forge waypoint, near a group of skeletons that will attack you as you approach.

On the map below you can check the positions of these molds to know where to pick them up:

How to use the Adamantine Forge?

As we have already said before, to use the Adamantine Forge you need a mold and mithral ore. When you have these two resources, go to the centre of the forge and interact with the crucible.

When the menu to insert an item opens, you will need to drag a mithril ore from your inventory into the forge. Then, interact with the mould chamber and insert one of the moulds you have here.

Keep in mind that you don’t have many mithral ores so you won’t be able to craft all the molds. You will have to do without some. The weapon or armor you get is random, but of high quality, so you must decide what type of equipment you may be most interested in obtaining for your characters.

After you’ve inserted the ore and mould into the forge, activate the lever on the forge in the corner. This will lower the platform. Now, finally, all you have to do is activate the lava valve to let the lava out through a sewer. Although beware, this will trigger a fight against a boss, prepare well before doing so.

How to defeat the boss Grym, protector of the forge?

Grym, the Eternal Protector of the Forge, is a boss that will appear the first time you want to use the Adamantine Forge. You will need to defeat him to be able to pick up the weapon or armour you made in the forge, and he is a pretty powerful enemy with a lot of health and a lot of element resistance and damage types. At first, you may think that Grym is impossible to defeat, and in part, it is through normal attacks. However, there is a very easy way to defeat him and that is to use the forge to your advantage against him.

To defeat Grym follow these steps:

Lure Grym to the crucible in the centre of the forge by attacking him with one of your characters.

When Grym stands in the centre of the forge, move your character out of the way to safety.

Now, with another of your characters, activate the forge lever. This will cause the anvil from the forge to fall on Grym, dealing a ton of damage.

It may take you a bit to do what has been said, but with a good organization, you will see how simple it is. A piece of advice, for example, is to shoot an arrow at the lever of the forge, because you will always hit the shot and you will not need to be next to it. Be careful not to burn your characters with the lava and keep them separated by the forge to attract Grym. Coordinate and manage your turns well and in a couple of tries you should have the boss minced under the anvil of the forge. You can then collect the piece of equipment you have crafted and, if you wish, craft more. Don’t worry, another big boss will not come out again to give you problems. It only happens the first time.
