This year’s return of the ONE Esports Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Professional League Invitational 2023 (MPLI 2023) is eagerly awaited by esports fans for a number of reasons.
As the first MPLI to take place in Jakarta, Indonesia, in an offline setting, it is expected to be a historic event. Additionally, with the addition of new regions including North America and the MENA region, MPLI 2023 has a wider competitive environment.
Here is all the information you need to know about the MPLI 2023, including the schedule, participant teams, tournament structure, and viewing locations.
What is MPLI 2023?
One of the largest worldwide MLBB competitions, jointly presented by Moonton and ONE Esports, is the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Professional League Invitational (MPLI).
Since the MLBB esports schedule was established in 2020, this event has consistently been a part of it.
The MPLI winners will get a majority of the US$100,000 prize fund. Following an exciting grand final match versus fellow Indonesians Geek Fam, ONIC Esports of Indonesia won back-to-back MPLI titles in 2017.
MPLI 2023 format
The group stage and the playoffs are the two phases of the competition. The 16 participating teams will be divided into four different groups for the group stage, and their placement will be decided by fan voting.
It will be possible for each side to play every other team in their group at least once during the group stage thanks to the round-robin, best-of-one format of the games.
The top-ranked team from each group will advance to the upper bracket of the playoffs after the group stage, while the second-placed club will move on to the lower bracket.
The bottom two teams in each group will be the two teams that are eliminated. There will be two rounds of elimination in the playoff phase. With the exception of the championship match, which will be a best-of-five match to crown the overall victor, all games in this phase will be best-of-three affairs.
Agenda for MPLI in 2023
November 15–16 is when the group stage takes place. At Jakarta, Indonesia’s GBK Basketball Hall, the playoffs will start on November 17 and last through November 19.
