All Pokémon Games On Nintendo Switch In the Year 2023

Pokémon is one of the most popular sagas of all time, Nintendo, so it is not surprising that it has a multitude of games on Nintendo Switch. Since Pokémon Red and Pokémon Green went on sale in Japan on February 27, 1996, many things have happened, we have lived many adventures and we have been able to enjoy many titles of our beloved pocket monsters.

How could it be otherwise, such a successful series of video games could not be missing from Nintendo’s hybrid console, which continues to break sales records, which is why it has a lot of titles. From games in the main saga to instalments from other sagas, going, of course, through video games that have become important pillars, such as Pokémon UNITE.

In this article, we are going to talk about all the Pokémon titles present on Nintendo Switch. We are going to make a chronological list so that we will tell you at the beginning of the first ones that came out, little by little, move forward over the years and also comment on what is to come. The first Pokémon game that came to Nintendo Switch is Pokkén Tournament DX, a fighting title where we can manage our beloved pocket monsters in a different way than we have done so far. Developed and distributed by Bandai Namco, this video game presents us with a fighting system very similar to that of Tekken, but with the characters from the Pokémon saga as protagonists.

Pokkén Tournament originally came out for Arcade machines and, later, it came to Wii U. In 2017, a version with all the fighters available in the Wii U version came to Nintendo Switch, to which several more characters were added through DLC.

Pokémon Quest

Rodacubo Island is the setting for Pokémon Quest, a boisterous action RPG created by GAME FREAK Inc., developers of many popular Pokémon titles.

The landscape and the inhabitants of Rodacubo Island have a somewhat cubic aspect, so the aesthetics of this Pokémon adventure are unlike any other. On the other hand, there is no doubt that these cube versions of the original Kanto Pokémon are very cute!

This peculiar Pokémon game, also available for mobile devices, arrived on Nintendo Switch in May 2018. In it, we must explore a new region, Rodacubo Island, where the pocket monsters have a particular appearance since they present cubic shapes. The objective, as almost always, is to get everyone, although in this case, only the first generation Pokémon are available.

Pokémon: Let’s Go, Pikachu! /Eevee!

Travel through the Kanto region and experience a thousand adventures in Pokémon: Let’s Go, Pikachu! and Pokémon: Let’s Go, Eevee! for Nintendo Switch. Begin your adventure as a new Pokémon Trainer, and catch all kinds of Pokémon with which you can battle and even befriend!

Pokémon: Let’s Go, Pikachu!/Eevee! They were the first titles to arrive on Nintendo Switch that were most similar to the games in the main saga, although they had their peculiarities. These games, which were nothing if not a remake of Pokémon Yellow, combined everything seen in the original game with Pokémon GO, the popular title for mobile devices.

On November 15, 2019, Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield, the games corresponding to the eighth generation, arrived on Nintendo Switch. In them, we were able to tour the Galar region, which was inspired by the United Kingdom, and, in addition to discovering new creatures, and movements, and becoming champions of the Pokémon League, we were also able to try out the Gigantamax phenomenon, a new form of combat that made our Pokémon in giants.

As a curiosity, it should be noted that thanks to the fact that updates could be released on Nintendo Switch through paid downloadable content, these were the first titles in the series to have DLC.

A very entertaining game, without a doubt, and a good way to introduce ourselves to the Mysterious World series if we had not played it before.

Pokémon Cafe Remix

It’s time to light the stove! Create and manage your venue in Pokémon Café Remix, a free-to-install puzzle game available for download on Nintendo Switch.

In this portable experience, you’ll take orders from Pokémon customers and craft delicious treats by matching icons to complete puzzles. In June 2020, Pokémon Café Remix was released simultaneously on both Nintendo Switch and smart mobile devices. In this puzzle title, we have to run a cafe with a very special client: Pokémon. 

To carry out each command, we have to overcome a level with particular requirements, such as reaching a certain number of points or achieving a series of combinations. A very entertaining game that does not stop updating to receive new content. 

New Pokémon Snap

Take photos of all kinds of Pokémon in New Pokémon Snap for Nintendo Switch! In this instalment, inspired by the Nintendo 64 game, you will participate in a safari that will take you through the scorching deserts and lush jungles of the Lensis region while you take photos of wild Pokémon in the middle of nature. In 1999, Pokémon Snap came to Nintendo 64, a fun title in which the objective is not to capture all the pocket monsters, but to take photos of them (if you haven’t played it before, you can do it now, since it’s available for Nintendo Switch Online users ).

Well, in 2021, the hybrid of the great N New Pokémon Snap arrived, a new instalment of the series. In it, addition to visiting many places with different flora and fauna, we could photograph a large number of our beloved pocket monsters. A very calm and colourful game, ideal to have a good time.

Pokemon UNITE

Here the Pokémon are more powerful and have enhanced abilities that Trainers around the world use in competitive Unite Battles.

Participate in 5v5 team battles to see who gets the most points within the time limit. Each player controls a Pokémon and chooses from five different types: Offensive, Agile, Balanced, Defensive, and Auxiliary. Do you want to go on the attack? Then choose an offensive Pokémon! Pokémon Shiny Diamond and Shimmering Pearl

Controversies aside, the truth is that they have brought the fourth generation closer to many players who, for various reasons, could not get into it in their day.

Pokemon Legends: Arceus

Explore vast wildernesses where endless discoveries await in Pokémon Legends: Arceus for Nintendo Switch. This instalment was also a revolution since it brought with it a new Pokémon capture system and focused more on exploration and not so much on fighting.

Pokemon Scarlet and Pokemon Violet

The Pokémon series evolves with Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet for Nintendo Switch! Travel with your friends and explore an open world inhabited by new Pokémon. We welcome you to the Paldea region! Embark on an unforgettable adventure in the Paldea region, a land of wide open spaces where you will find lakes, high peaks, moors and dangerous mountain ranges.

Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet are the last games in the main saga to see the light and they have brought with them the ninth generation of our beloved creatures. These titles, whose region, Paldea, is inspired by Spain, have meant a change in the series since for the first time we can explore without following a certain order.

Now, despite this novelty, and presenting us with an interesting story and a quite remarkable soundtrack, the truth is that these video games came to the market with a multitude of errors and performance problems, which undoubtedly impoverished what could have been an excellent launch. Hopefully, with the next DLC, they won’t do the same.

Bonus: Pokémon HOME and Pokémon TV

We make special mention of two programs that, although they are not games as such, can be downloaded and used on Nintendo Switch: Pokémon HOME and Pokémon TV.

The first of them, available in the hybrid’s catalogue since 2020 and which, not long ago, received an update to be compatible with Scarlet and Purple, is a cloud service that allows you to save all the Pokémon from the different titles In one single place. It is ideal if you are a collector or if you do not want to lose your favourite pocket monsters.

The second, Pokémon TV, is a platform where you can see different chapters of the anime, as well as special movies. The content varies depending on the time of year in which we find ourselves or if a special event takes place, but the truth is that there are always a good handful of chapters of Ash, Pikachu and Company.

Detective Pikachu: The Return

Humans and Pokémon in this city live in harmony with each other. A place full of life where you will meet a direct Pikachu, a curmudgeon (although surprisingly adorable), coffee lover who claims to be a first-rate detective. Two heads think better than one. Pikachu works side by side with his young partner Tim Goodman. Together they will solve the mysterious incidents that are taking place throughout the city. We hope you’re looking forward to discovering these mystery-filled adventures with Tim and his chatty sidekick Pikachu, a team of detectives you’ll only find in the world of Pokémon!​ Even though many rumours speak of future games beyond Scarlet and Purple, we want to finish by mentioning a title that has been confirmed and that will arrive next October on Nintendo Switch; we refer, of course, to Detective Pikachu: the return.

The sequel to the Nintendo 3DS game will be released in a few months on the hybrid console and promises to bring back all the good things that the first instalment had.
