Grand Theft Auto 5 (GTA) is a pioneer when it comes to the gaming industry. The game is best known for changing the video gaming world when it came out ten years ago. While it’s the latest in the GTA franchise, since a decade there have been no sequel released. This has been the longest gap between the release of titles. However, according to rumours and leaks, GTA 6 will soon be hitting the market. While the developers have yet to release any official statement about the game, there have been leaks that have driven fans into a frenzy. GTA 6 Launch Date
Back in 22nd February 2022, developers Rockstar Games took to their social media to confirm that the next entry to the Grand Theft Auto franchise was underway. This gave fans hope for the future of GTA. Then in June 2022, the announcement from Rockstar Games that they would be directing all their resources to the development of GTA 6, made it evident that they were serious about this project. With the announcement, other projects like Red Dead Redemption and GTA 4 remaster were put on hold until further notice.
Despite all the information given, there was nothing regarding the release date of the game. A well-known and reliable GTA leaker called Chris Klippel divulged further information on the launch date. As per Klippel, the highly-anticipated game won’t out until the end of 2024. While Klippel is not directly connected to Rockstar Games, his previous leaks on GTA have proven to be true, so many fans somewhat trust the information that’s relayed by him. This claim was also further supported by Bloomberg reporter, Jason Schreier. So, according to all reports, it seems that GTA 6 can be expected to be released sometime between late 2024 and early 2025. Even though this doesn’t reveal the exact date, it does narrow down the time frame.
The latest financial reports from Take-Two, which is the parent company of Rockstar Games, came out in June 2023 and further fuel speculations about the release date. In the report, Take-Two mentioned that it expects “groundbreaking titles” to be released in the first financial quarter of FY25 which is between April 2024 – May 2025.
GTA 6 Map Leaks
There has been a plethora of potential GTA 6 map leaks in the past, but none have been officially confirmed by Rockstar Games. Still, fans can’t help speculating on the new features that will be added in the GTA 6 map. So, we’ve listed the many leaks down below in hopes that even one of these come true.
- GTA 6 Miami Map
Interestingly, reputed Bloomberg journalist, Jason Schreier released his take on the new additions that GTA 6 will have. While there has been no confirmation on his claims, he has provided good points on the matter. One thing that he’s hinted is that the new GTA 6 map was going to include more areas of North and South America. However, the developers cut back on this ambitious project and decided on a “fictional version of Miami and its surrounding areas.” This indicates that GTA will take place in Vice City but it might be a more modern version of the city.
- GTA 6 map leaks by Bocobocaco
Some leaks were made by Bocobocaco who claimed that the next map would be in Rio de Janeiro. However, many fans were not too sure about this leak and were quick to spot the holes in his claims. It was revealed that the map was made by another artist. After this failed attempt, he again came back with another alleged map of GTA 6 which he claimed would be set in Cali, a south-west Columbian city.
- Double map leak for GTA 6
This was one of the earliest released map leaks for GTA 6 which showed two cities, Vice City and Rio de Janeiro. This seems to indicate that players would be able to switch and explore two different maps in the game. There were other islands like Cuba that were added but the map was later debunked as players realized that the map was just a satellite image of Rio de Janeiro and Miami clubbed together.
New GTA 6 Characters
It is speculated that GTA 6 will have two new protagonists named Jason and Lucia. These two characters will have newly added features like a new game mechanic system that will make the character’s hair grow automatically. This will also impact how players customize their characters in the game. The missions and dialogues that players choose is also impacted by which characters players choose to play with.
