All Characters Voice Actors And Names In GTA 5

1 years ago By AI Smith

If there is one thing other than a fantastic gameplay that Grand Theft Auto 5 is renowned for, it is the Rockstar Games’ ability to rope in the biggest and brightest stars around the world to voice characters to develop a more compelling and dramatic storyline.

The whole video game industry is captivated with Grand Theft Auto. Over the course of its 25-year existence, the game Grand Theft Auto has consistently retained its appeal to gamers. When Grand Theft Auto 5 was released in 2013, which was around 10 years ago, it was one of the most well-known iterations of the game. The excitement for Grand Theft Auto V hasn’t wavered in the past ten years, and it doesn’t seem to be abating anytime soon, especially with GTA 6’s release rapidly approaching.

It is the seventh main installment in the series and the fifteenth overall, after Grand Theft Auto IV from 2008. Three main characters in the single-player game are retired bank robber Michael De Santa, street thug Franklin Clinton, and drug dealer and gunrunner Trevor Philips. They must pull out heists while under pressure from vicious criminals and an unreliable government agency. The fictitious state of San Andreas is modelled around Southern California. Players are free to roam across the vast rural areas of San Andreas and the made-up metropolis of Los Santos, which is modelled after Los Angeles, thanks to the game’s open world layout.

The game’s setting may be explored on foot and by car, and it can be played in either first- or third-person. Throughout the single-player campaign, players take control of the three main protagonists and alternate between them both within and outside of missions. The robbery sequences serve as the focal point of the narrative, and many of the missions include shooting and driving action. The severity with which law enforcement responds to criminal activity among players is regulated via a “wanted” system. In the game’s online multiplayer version, Grand Theft Auto Online, up to 30 people can participate in a range of cooperative and competitive game styles.

The GTA series has long employed gifted voice actors, like Ray Liotta, Michael Madsen, and Samuel L. Jackson, and has contributed to the awareness of the industry. This is still the case with GTA 5, where the actors that portrayed Franklin, Trevor, and Michael in the game have gone on to become superstars in the industry.

But a game this big like Grand Theft Auto 5 has a tonne of unique characters, with a number of actors, rappers, and Rockstar veterans teaming together to provide voices for the people of Los Santos. As GTA 6 is still many moons away, let’s take a look back at the voice cast of the fastest-selling game ever, which contributed to the game’s success almost ten years later.

So, who plays whom in GTA 5?

View the GTA 5 cast list below

  • Julian Gamble plays Dave Norton
  • Johnathan Walker plays Devon Weston
  • David Mogentale plays Ron Jakowski

Memorably portrayed by Steven Ogg, Trevor Philips is one of the three main protagonists and one of the most recognisable figures in Grand Theft Auto history. Prior to GTA 5, Ogg had a few tiny TV appearances. However, the popularity of Trevor’s character has allowed him to portray similarly insane people in shows like Better Call Saul, Westworld, and The Walking Dead.

Similar to his character Michael Townley, Ned Luke left the acting profession in 2007 but returned a few years later, landing his well-known part in GTA. Luke has guest featured in TV series including Boardwalk Empire and Law & Order: Special Victims Unit in addition to working on Red Dead Redemption 2, another popular game from Rockstar.

Rapper and actor Shawn Fonteno, better known by his stage name as Solo, completes the starring trio. Fonteno has a brief role in GTA San Andreas, and Young Maylay is the actor that plays the legendary CJ character. Fonteno is Maylay’s cousin. Along with these roles, Fonteno starred in the movies The Wash and Watch Dogs. He also returned to the role of Franklin for GTA Online and a meme that went popular depicting Kenan roasting Franklin.

Jay Klaitz, who as Lester Crest in GTA 4 and Red Dead Redemption and had appearances in TV series including The Get Down, Jessica Jones, and Law & Order: Criminal Intent, is another well-known face.

Slink Johnson, who is most known for starring in the comedy Black Jesus, plays Franklin’s boyhood buddy and online darling Lamar. Johnson has also had brief roles in films like Sharknado 3 and Space Jam: A New Legacy. He has also played Lamar many times on GTA Online.

Dr. Dre was a famous name added to GTA 5 for the GTA Online update The Contract, despite the fact that the franchise has significantly reduced the number of celebrities it casts for its films since the 3D era.
Naturally, Dre began his career as a member of the legendary hip-hop group NWA before going on to form Beats Electronics with other members and embark on a successful solo career.

So, there you have it – the entire list of Voice Actors who have helped enrich your personal experience on GTA 5 by lending their voices to the characters. We wish these actors a wonderful future, and while we wait for the drop of Grand Theft Auto 6, indulge in this game, because soon it will be history! It will indeed be interesting to see which actors voice the GTA 6 characters.
