Alex ‘Xpecial’ Chu Joins Phoenix1

Alex ‘Xpecial’ Chu has been a support player in Team Dignitas for a long time, and he is currently one of the few veterans still actively competing in the League of Legends. During the NA LCS Spring Split, Team Dignitas reached the playoffs together with Xpecial, but they did not have a lot of success in the competition.

In the quarter-finals of the NA LCS Spring Split Playoffs, Team Dignitas was defeated, and since they were expecting a lot more from that Split, the team decided to make changes in their team. The victim of those changes was Alex ‘Xpecial’ Chu who was benched almost immediately after the quarter-final loss.

Not long after that, Team Dignitas announced that Terry ‘BIG’ Choung who previously played for Echo Fox will be stepping in the position that Xpecial played in the team. Xpecial was free to look for other opportunities and to negotiate with other teams.

New Chapter for Xpecial

A couple of days ago, Xpecial announced that he will be joining Phoenix1 as their new support player. Not long after that, the organization also confirmed that saying they are very happy that such an experienced player will be joining their team.

Over the last couple of months, it became clear that Phoenix1 lacks a player who will take on the leadership role in the team and that has caused a lot of problems and bad results for this organization in that period.

However, with Xpecial and all his experience, Phoenix1 will be getting a player who will not have a problem with stepping in those shoes as his career so far has been very successful, and he knows how to lead the team in the matches. Over his career, Alex ‘Xpecial’ Chu played for some of the biggest and best League of Legends teams in the North American region among which are Team Liquid and especially Team SoloMid.

During the 2017 season, Phoenix1 has already tried three support players, and none of them got what the team actually needed and that was a strong, established and very experienced player who will lead the team with his experience. Because of that, it seems that Xpecial was more than right choice for Phoenix1.

Call for Help

Phoenix is not having a good NA LCS Summer Split as they have played four series so far, but they were defeated in all four matches. Because of that, the team needed a change as fast as possible because there is still chance for Phoenix1 to turn around their situation in the competition and to win a place in the playoffs.

Before signing Xpecial, that looked almost impossible. However, with Xpecial things are looking much brighter for Phoenix1. That said, Xpecial will not be enough for them to turn around this season because other players from the team will also have to step up if they want to keep their chances for the playoffs alive.

Xpecial debuted for Phoenix1 in week three of the competition, but it was not a successful debut as they were defeated in both series in which Xpecial played for Phoenix1. It will take some time for Xpecial to get used to the new environment and the new organization and once he does that, the results will be visible.
