Minecraft EULA Changes August 2023: All You Need To Know

1 years ago By AI Smith

Minecraft recently announced new changes in its EULA (End User License Agreement). The changes were long due, and have left the game’s fans worldwide in shock. The game has been a creative one offering limitless opportunities to build, explore, and interact within the blocky environment.

However, the recent adjustments in the EULA have led to an uproar among content creators facing criticism within just a few hours of its release.

Here’s all you need to know about Minecraft EULA Changes August 2023

The latest Minecraft EULA Changes August 2023 will not permit the players and content creators to use the word ‘Minecraft’ as the primary title for their content. This could include videos, blog posts, or anything that is posted online about the game.

Additionally, creators are restricted from using Minecraft and their assets in sponsorships. Finally, players can no longer charge or paywall Minecraft Content.

To better understand the new restrictions, Minecraft has provided some examples as follows:

MCC Island

A title that reads, “A fantastic Minecraft Server for parkour and other fun stuff” is acceptable, while “Minecraft – The amazing MCC Island server for parkour” is not acceptable.

Similarly “The Shaft – a Minecrafter’s podcast” is acceptable and “Minecraft – the ultimate health app” is not acceptable.

The recent Minecraft EULA Changes August 2023 are being compared to 1984 which made every Minecraft server commercial. Some other Minecraft EULA Changes August 2023 include:

  • Servers including “player queues,” such as 2b2t, will now be prohibited.
  • A sweeping clause allowing the removal of any server or online content, including videos, without any reason or cause will be brought into action.
  • Stricter content guidelines will be in place that will disallow any server from including material unsuitable for audiences under the age of 10.
  • A “NOT AN OFFICIAL MINECRAFT PRODUCT” statement and a “Terms of Service” clause must be included in every server’s entrance process upon a player’s first access.
  • It is now forbidden to use Minecraft assets, such as logos and typefaces, for marketing initiatives including actual Minecraft events.
  • Like LAN parties, in-person Minecraft meetings are confined and unable to acquire sponsorships if they are intended to be profitable.
  • It is not permitted for aspiring authors of fictional narratives to use Minecraft fonts or pictures in their own works.

About Minecraft

Mojang Studios released the sandbox game Minecraft in 2011. Markus “Notch” Persson used the Java programming language to construct the game. It was first made public in May 2009 after undergoing numerous early private testing iterations, and it was completely released in November 2011 after Notch stepped down and Jens “Jeb” Bergensten took over development. With over 238 million copies sold and almost 140 million monthly active users as of 2021, Minecraft is the most popular video game in history. To many different platforms, it has been ported.
