Will There Be A Godzilla Event In Fortnite?
The crossover events that Fortnite hosts with various films, TV shows, and celebrities are well-known. After the release of the film Godzilla vs. Kong in March 2021, some fans have recently questioned whether a Godzilla event is coming to Fortnite. But as of right now, there is no official affirmation or proof that such an event is planned.
Players at Polar Peak, an area on the map that was impacted by a volcanic eruption in Season 8, observed a massive eye moving beneath the ice, which sparked rumors about a potential Godzilla event in Fortnite.
Some participants believed that the eye belonged to Godzilla or another enormous monster and that it will soon escape and wreck devastation on the island. The fact that Fortnite had previously worked with other movie brands, such as Avengers and John Wick, and that the eye’s emergence timed with the release of Godzilla: King of the Monsters in May 2019 corroborated this idea.
The eye, however, ended up being a component of a creature known as The Devourer, also known as Cattus, which rose from the ice and engaged in combat with a huge robot known as The Mecha Team Leader in a live event in July 2019 dubbed The Final Showdown. The Devourer was destroyed, but the skeleton is still visible in the water near the island. Therefore, the eye was not related to Godzilla at all.
Another factor that led some fans to anticipate a Godzilla event in Fortnite was the inclusion of the Tokyo-inspired locale Mega City in Chapter 4 Season 2. Mega City is similar to the urban environments where Godzilla frequently engages in combat with other monsters in his films. Some players hypothesized that Mega City might be a foreshadowing of a future Godzilla event or at the very least, an homage to the legendary kaiju.
However, since its inception, Mega City has not taken part in any significant occurrences or modifications, and there is no evidence that it is connected to Godzilla. Fortnite has likely added a number of unique places to its map throughout time, like Colossal Coliseum, and Mega City is likely only one of them. It has also included Stealthy Stronghold, and Coral Castle.
There is currently no indication that Fortnite will soon have a Godzilla event. While the King of the Monsters making an appearance in the game would be thrilling, it appears that Epic Games has not yet prepared for such a crossover.
